Contingency Awards, Top 10 Program, Significant Weekly Track Presence to Continue

SAN ANTONIO, TX (January 14, 2015) VP Racing Fuels today announced it will continue programs to support NHRA Sportsman racers in 2015. “VP Racing Fuels remains committed to actively supporting NHRA Sportsman racers and the wider drag racing market as we have for the last 40 years,” said Steve Burns, VP’s Founder and Director-R&D. “While VP will no longer bear the title of Official Racing Fuel of NHRA this season, we’ll never abandon the Sportsman racers or forget our friends in the Pro ranks whose longstanding support formed the foundation of VP’s success as a company.”

“Going forward, we’ll continue to post awards for NHRA divisional and national events through the NHRA contingency program as we always have,” Burns said. “We’ll also continue our ‘Top 10’ program including some enhancements, wherein racers who finished in the top 10 in each class in 2014 will be entitled to free or half price fuel for each national event they attend in 2015. The program will be repeated for racers who finish in the Top 10 in 2015, after which they can redeem their fuel awards in 2016.”

VP fuel trucks will be at a great number of NHRA divisional events to provide fuel service in 2015 as reflected on the attached schedule. For those events where VP can’t be on site, its extensive dealer network throughout the U.S. and Canada makes VP fuels easy to find. In addition, VP continues to be the Official Fuel of high profile tracks including Atco, Cecil County, Lebanon Valley, Epping, Orlando Speed World Dragway, Gateway Motorsports Park, Royal Purple Raceway, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and many more.

Hey Jerry, It's Casey. I was told by Lee that you just got a fresh delivery of C-10 and C-11. Your new shop is 8 miles from Gainesville raceway isn't it or can you bring it by the track if I need it?
For all of you stock and super stock racers who use VP gas, I know Jerry for years and is a great guy to deal with.

Thanks for checking. If it's div points, I would get 5 gal each points race. Big help. Just have to figure where to pick it up, since NHRA won't let them on the property. That sucks.

Casey, Thanks for the kind words. A fresh shipment is due tomorrow, although I do have some fuel in stock. I have VP110, C12, C14 and Q16 in stock. I know that C11, C15 & C16 are part of the shipment. I can run some out to the track for you if need it, but I would have to meet you off property. Won't allow sales onsite other than Sunoco. Give me a call when you get to G'Ville.

Es Wright.... I've had the free fuel for the last two years for ending up in the top 10 "National" points. This was never given to the top ten divisional finishers. I had the same email from VP last year. I doubt that they changed it for this year.

Ed, I saw the flyer that was mailed to Craig Bourgeois and it states top 10 in national and top ten in Divisionals. the top 5 free and the 6 thru 10 get it at half price.

Since NHRA won't let them in the gate, I wonder if we pick it up at close by VP dealers! We have one right here in Tulsa.

Well I guess the higher ups in Cali are upset that there are VP Race Fuel Cans @ the Track. So, to whom it may concern. The cans you see were purchased by racers who came to my store to pick them up. No, I did not set foot on track property to sell or deliver. It's called free enterprise. Have a nice day!

And there were even more Renegade cans and drums. You have to keep in mind that exclusive race fuel contracts are designed to keep the competition out. That means that the race series/race facility is bound to prevent all other than the designated "official" product from being sold ( or given away) on the property. And that means that all interested parties are on the lookout for any products other than the official brand.
I recall that the former official brand used to look in racer's trailers to be sure no other brand of race fuel was smuggled into the track. A famous Top fuel/Funny Car team was caught with the wrong brand of product in their trailer a few years ago. It's a ridiculous process, but an exclusive contract costs a lot of money, and the official brand is going to make sure they can make every possible dollar back.

Now, how do we get our fuel, if NHRA won't allow VP on the property?

Several Pro Stock teams were testing here at Tulsa Raceway Park this the last weekend through Tuesday.

I asked one crew chief "You guys have to use Sunoco fuel, right?" He kinda frowned and said "Yep."

I asked "Do you guys have any issues with Fuel Check?"

He frowned, and said "Yeah we do." And kinda shook his head.

Now, I have to buy mine locally, and have to carry it in the trailer. Not crazy about that.

Just wanted to give a big "THANK YOU" to all the racers that came in during the NHRA Division race and the Gatornationals to purchase fuel. It was nice meeting you all . It was my first experience as a VP dealer. Sorry I did not have any C25 for the racers that were looking for it. I will be better prepared next time. Thanks again!
