LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
First the important news -the weather - it looks to be spectacular all weekend. A happy sight given Last year when both Saturday and Sunday were rainy and just a few weeks ago the rain at Indy. Linders lot is full - I pulled in at 1:00 and am #280. It's a very organized process to sell credentials and get the rigs in the track. Getting the reports up on Class Racer this weekend may be a challenge due to the weak cell service here. But stay tuned.

Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
Here is the schedule to start the day on Friday. The continuation of the Indy race starts off the day with Stock eliminator out for a time shot at 9:30 AM. It's going to be a busy morning as well as a busy day. I will get a complete shot of the Friday schedule in the morning. Note that the Indy race rounds are shown in red.

Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
Good morning. Looks like my earlier report didn't make it to CR. I'll apologize now for slow posting as the Internet signal is really weak.
Indy race survivors have made their time shot and the Super and Top classes are running R3. Stock Norwalk Q1 is up soon with Indy R4 immediately following. I'm sitting in the back of the staging lanes to be one of the first stockers in the Q1 round and then run back and cool the car for R4. |
Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
Good luck to all racers. Sounds like a busy, action packed weekend.
|
Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
FYI - A little heads up for all the Norwalk Racers - The cell phone connection is near perfect at the end of the track near the Airport.

Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
I'm back at the hotel so I can load up reports. Jim, tried to get a signal at the end of the track - nothing. Anyway, MJ gave you the lineup for the Stock final. Here are the Q1 Stock Sheets. I'll get SS later. The SS final is Dave Dupps and Chad Taylor. Anybody watching D3 TV that catches the final please post the results.

Indy Stock Eliminator winner Juhn Kunsak.
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...ps0bchow2n.jpg Stock Q2 is scheduled for 8 o'clock this evening however the schedule is about one hour behind as of 5 o'clock . This Stock qualifying run is also the wheelie contest. The weather forecast has been updated to include a chance of rain tomorrow morning. Just after lunch cloud cover began to roll in from the west and the barometer dropped 10 points. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...ps0xxtflnb.png SS fuel check http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...psh0yugdh6.jpg |
Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
Bill Adkins #1 qualifier with -3.011????
is that a mistake or did they just give him about 300hp?LOL! |
Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
I was just watching D3TV and the announcer made no mention of the Stock Super Stock qualifying session for tonight. Has that been changed?
|
Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
Stock and SS have been shelved for the evening. After a brief shower the Alky cars are running. Going to be a long night with fireworks at the conclusion. Interesting note, the Baders would give away over 50,000 complimentary tix to this race. Now spectators are charged 9.99 each and guess what....no butts in the stands today......however the one dollar per pound of ice cream was delicious......

Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
Mike the second qualifying run for both stock and superstock has been canceled for this evening. At about 7 PM the announcement came that there were "schedule adjustments" necessary and the stock and Super Stock runs were canceled for tonight. At that time the program was about three hours behind and it was clear there was no way they were going to be able to fit in "The Show" for this evening which included top alcohol cars Jets and fireworks at the end of the evening. What's interesting is that there were very few spectators today - a significant departure from prior years when the stands were packed for the Friday night show. Not long after the stock and SS guys got their cars put away for the evening a real fine drizzle started at the track. If you are watching D3 TV this is probably what you're seeing right now.

Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
As for all the DQs, some were for fuel, and DJ Raiser was DQed just for being DJ Raiser, Anyone that had a .010 or better light was checked for electronics and they found the delay box in my car that Beard left in there when he was driving.
Should be over 100 cars after Sat. qualifying, some more cars came in and a few here didnt make the first run. NO fans here for the Fri. night program which is unusual. Its bourbon time! |
Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
Good morning. This first post on Saturday morning will be from the hotel where there's a solid Internet connection. It rained overnight and a heavy cloud cover remains even though the rain as appeared to stop in the area. The weather Channel hourly forecast shows we should be rain free for the rest of the day but with temps in the 50s and cloud cover. Based on the qualifying schedule posted to drag race central the race is behind schedule with top alcohol funny car and the top sports men and dragster classes yet to make their first qualifying attempt. The original schedule calls for qualifying to continue at 9 AM and I'm sure there will be schedule adjustments today. Based on what I know now stock and super stock will get one more qualifying run and then go to R1.
Stay tuned and be sure to tune in to D3 TV which will be streaming live from the track. |

A couple other random shots from yesterday. The first is the 66 Chevy wagon of Roy Dean that he drove to runner up in Stock at the US nationals 30 years ago. This is the car it was previously owned by Canadian Camille Threault (please excuse the misspelling).

Bob Michael is a real character. When I commented on how fast that big red Tri-Power Pontiac is running he quickly shot back "nobody is more surprised than me".

Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
Division one racer Brian Philbrick was involved in a towing accident on the way here. Brian's trailer got tagged from behind when the traffic in front of him checked up quickly. The good news is there was very little damage to his Monza stocker. Brian turned around towed the bent up trailer back home and then made the trip here to Norwalk just to spectate.

Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS

Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
My racing partner from the 70s Mike Tancredi made,a surprise appearance while in Chicago on business. And he has an Android phone with AT&T service that works. As of noon they have called Stock to the lanes. And we got some light mist that has now stopped. No schedule announcements.yet.

Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
It's going to be a challenge to get thru the very ambitious schedule today as there continues to be occasional spitting rain passing thru the area. Stock and SS R1 will be on Sunday. Both fields got their Q2 runs and the fields are set. 114 Stockers.
|
Re: LIVE from Summit Motorsports Park - D3 LODRS
Stock and super stock are done for the day. First rounds will be sunday morning...super street will lead things off followed by stock then super stock. I'll see if I can get the qualifying sheets and post them.
