Gt rules fine Print?

Could a 71 Chevelle motor be run in a 69 car in a GT class based on Chevelle hp?
Like a late Camaro? that runs GT/AA?
Someone suggested that there HAD been a yr limit for GT class body.

Only mention per Nhra rule book IS engine and body must both be listed in Stock classification guide

That was my impression but someone thought there was a year rule limiting to 85 some how.
Now what if a71 chevelle motor were placed in a 69 corvette? would you use the Vette hp or the chevelle hp? ( I bet they would push for vette hp)

Dick
Chevelle SS/GT Engine HP and Corvette shipping weight, I think there used to be a year limit of 1980 and newer body in GT.

I just reread it. Both the engine and car have to be in the NHRA guides. For Chevy, that's anything from 1955 to the present day.

2008 or something COPO engine cars are restricted to Factory SS or FGT. Same for DragPak and CJ.

Consider the question from the point of if the Chevelle motor was also available in Vette in 71 (but at a different HP) which rating would apply if the 71 motor were in a 69 vette?

At the top of the classification page of year and make it lists GT factors for engine combos. So it could be different then both Corvette and Chevelle factor.

Also watch out for the HP changes with aftermarket heads. They are listed by part numbers.
