The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
Here it is! Great weather is forecast high of 82 degrees both Saturday and Sunday. Rain has been plentiful here for pretty much all summer. We have had an excellent year for growing...Farmers are happy as hell. The grass is as green as ever and the natives here are threatening each other with fertilzing each others lawn...lol..they hate cutting grass around here, so the joke is to fertilize other peoples lawns in the middle of the night or pay a lawn care service to do it...Very funny joke. There are a few pictures on the board at work of mujahadeen looking individuals with the whole arab look fertilizing cowrkers lawns...It's some funny stuff. Well anyways, this weekend prospective outlook is great for Drag Racing. I hope nothing Changes. This is the World's biggest turnout for a points meet you know! In division Three..The land of Winners! Thank God Dave Young won't be racing or we would all be first round losers..lol..what's up Dave?

Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
Jason I'll be their today some where around 4:00pm. Here in southern Ohio we haven't had much rain....been real dry! I've mowed my grass fewer times this summer then the last 11 years! I'm glad to hear that the farmer are doing good though... my father-in-law's beans are doing "ok" but the rain we've have the last 2 days has been a god send! Hey Jason if your @ the track come on over and see me...I'll be driving a real ugly 69 nova 4-door 6 cyl in V/SA! see ya (& everbody else) this weekend! :)

Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
I beg to differ, Div 1 has a much larger car count, as far as stock/super stock than Indy pts. race. I believe because of gas/fuel prices, high entry fee, low payout and being the middle of the summer the car counts will be down. Good luck to all that attend ....

Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
Jason,
Chuck, is correct !!! Get your facts together.....Must be too much rain out their.. In Div 1 you have an avg. of 150-160 for every points race and some as high as 185 cars. So there are always alot of un-happy campers going home EARLY. I think Maple Grove was -.62 to make Stock earlier this year for a points race. Jason, now you know the real story............. Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
WOW..That is a lot of stockers..I was writing about the total car turnout though. We usually get close to a thousand cars on this weekend. Does that count for anything? I don't think we will have a full field of stockers and Super stockers. Unfortunately we get a massive amout of super cars which more than makes up the difference..I guess we will see the after this years total car count who really has the world's biggest pooints meet.

Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
Jason,
I have been going to the Indy pts meet for over 30 yrs, we have never had 1000 total cars, I think the most we had was a little over 600 and I may be stretching it. |
Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
I could have sworn I have heard the announcer tally car counts anywhere from high 800's to over 900. I too have been going to this event since 1987.

I thought it was Las Vegas 800+

Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
Jason + Mike,
They were including the parking lots to get those Big counts.. You know, its called stretching the truth a little.. But thats what they get paid for, keeping the natives happy.. But it really doesn't matter who has the biggest car count, they are all tough to win.. There's an advantage with smaller car count, because on the rounds... Good Luck the rest of 2007...........Dave...1033/stock (RV-455) |

I Was In Las Vegas A Few Years Ago In The Fall When There Was, I Think, Over 1000 At The Points Race

Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
Well the weather is perfect! I'm getting ready for work tonight, then I' heading out in the morning after work 6AM. There should be more cars Saturday. I'm struck by the lack of Comp cars as of yet. I guess it's a sign of hard times right now. Then again there is a bunch of cars at the Beech Bend race. I'm stuned to see Foxbower only going 10.40's usually in this kind of weather he is much faster. SEE YA there!

Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
I was at a divisional race in Lost Wages a few years back(can't remember year, I'm old) and they announced that it was the largest points meet in NHRA history. If my failing memory serves me correct it was something like 1080 cars. All I know it was huge. Rained and we went out in the 4th round at 11:00 PM got to Pomona at 3 or 4 AM.

Re: The World's Biggest Points Meet! Indy!
I haven't kept up in the last few years, but Indy points race always had the record for the most number of cars at the points race. I was at Indy when we were officially called "The Door Slammer Nationals" because we had set the record for race car attendance. I am pretty sure it was 814.
I heard that Vegas beat the record a couple of years ago. Read these numbers! Who said 185 in S/SS? That is chicken feed! Try 222 Looks like it is right up there with Vegas numbers posted. I will try to get the total car count. You gotta admit, that when guys ask their wives to go to a points race at Vegas verses Indy(or anywhere else), it probably tells the story. Lynn |
