Indy I will start How far under

I'm sure someone on here knows what it took last year. I am not sure if the number will be much worse than last year. I think the fast guys will just be higher in the tree, but the last will not be much different than last year. However, I was wrong once before in the spring of 72 I think it was. Stock Eliminator

Re: Indy I will start How far under

.870 in stock, .686 in super stock. I happened to be #128 last year in SS, lol.

Re: Indy I will start How far under

Well Joe, with the removal of the AHFS I believe your statement to be dead on. The top of the tree will be littered with new cars while the bottom will be around .800 under. For SS I see a .700 under.

Would love to see a couple of U/SA in the top spots. #1 qualifier should be entered into the Factory Shootout as a blocker.

Ron Ortiz
U/SA sorry I can't make it.

Re: Indy I will start How far under

They should make the Factory Shootout 2 16-car fields and put them in the show Sunday/Monday.
One for the superchargers and one for the NA cars.
That will wipe close to 32 factory cars right out of qualifying.

No AHFS hit .....1.0 second under this year.....

Re: Indy I will start How far under

Looking at last year's entries that qualified @ .999 or under in Stock makes me wonder how many of those were "throttled back" to prevent triggering a review.

With that said, I believe the bump will be in the .930 range simply because there will not be very many holding back, plus the addition of the new combo entries.

Carguy49 06-29-2016 06:34 PM

Re: Indy I will start How far under

Last year was .870 in Stock and .686 in Super Stock. With that being said and no AHFS this year things could be interesting. I believe S/S won't change much, probably .700. However, Stock should be fun. I agree with Ron Ortiz, I would love to see one of the many U/SA on top. I think the cut off will be .950, possibly higher, in Stock.

Re: Indy I will start How far under

It all depends upon the weather. Last year, runs slower than 1.20 under didn't count towards the average so the slower cars weren't exactly holding back. -0.89 under if the weather stays around the same.

Re: Indy I will start How far under

I'm going to say I am about a tenth short of what the bump will be, depending on the weather ofcourse.

I forgot about the mine shaft deal last year

I don't think it will change much. Mineshaft rule last year prevented people from worrying about going -1.0. However, there might be a few oddball combos that want to go let it all hang out. We will lose 8 entries to the FS race, but I think it will end up about -.914

X2. I beleive 1.0 under.(For stock.).. very dependent on how many
from the obscure combo community show up. some seem
to be conspiracy theorist and believe they will get hit with power
and it is a trap......... I personally don't believe so... but then again
I am not entering..

It really depends if the soft combo cars are dumb enough to believe that NHRA is not paying attention to how fast the cars will run if allowed to run all out. If there is really that many sandbagging then the bump will drop dramatically. I guess time will tell. My car is slow and I cant get any where near the bump so I will be watching on DRC

.95 - 1.0 in stock and .75 - .80 is super stock. Should be a dandy show!

Sandbagging at Indy?REALLY ?You have no clue what it takes to run Indy.

I predict that #1 qualifier will be a U/S followed closely by one or 2 U/SA.

Not a easy task was on the outside looking in last year. Weather conditions are different and tricky for a first timer. We had a good time though...

I have been there several times in my career. I don't have a combo that is capable of making the show. Like I saiid my car is slow. In good air all out I can run 75 to 80 under. That won't be nearly enough

I predict that #1 will be a V/SA car..or at least that it will be a showroom available combo
i.e. "Stocker"

questions i have for all the intelligent racers on here...
1. do you think the NO ahfs will attract racers who did not come last year ?
> i think if you was a bad *** you came any way ?
2. do you think the cars on the sheet -80 to -1.00 wasnt all in ?
> judging from the dry ice and bagged ice sales alone i think they was trying ?
3. if the top 20 go another -.25 from last year will it change the cut ?
> not from my viewpoint am i wrong ?
4. only difference will be the .05 or so everyone picks up each year you think ?
> i do ... -.95 will get in

Not a bad analysis Captain, I predict that the 2 U/sa cars will both hail from the Bluegrass State. Edit....Oh, sorry Captain, I missed the intelligent racers part.....

1. Yes, I think some cars that could go really far under but didn't want to get hit will show. I am not sure of any cars that are in the quicker classes that this would apply to, but I think cars from about O/SA and slower will have more entries.

2. I think the vast majority of cars -.95 under or slower are all in. I would imagine there are some that were quicker than -.95 that had more left. I'm not saying everybody that fast did, but I would think there are a few.

3. The only way the top 20 will effect the bump is if a bunch of cars that weren't at indy last year come. This includes obscure combos not just new cars.

4. Weather conditions can make a huge difference. If you get a morning session with cool Temps you can move the bump up quite a bit. The number of entries will make a difference too. I believe they has more entries in 2014, and I think the bump was higher even with no mineshaft rule.

Bottom line is at Indy most guys won't be holding any or very little unless they can go over-1.20 all in. I would never chance not getting to race to save some for later. I don't think the bump will be higher than -.95

Does anyone pay top qualifier money for stock and super stock at the US Nationals? That would be very interesting.

Winston used to pay top qualifier and Sealed Power used to pay but nobody does anymore.

Re: Indy I will start How far under

How about this. I will pay $100 to the top qualifier if it is a Mopar, and I will double that if it is older than a 2008. Stock Eliminator. Maybe someone else will offer something. FS/XX and FS/X can't play. Final qualifying sheet.

Randall Klein 07-05-2016 10:35 PM

Re: Indy I will start How far under

Geesch, Jeff, a whole $100 bucks! Didn't realize just how much you throw money around

I'll call your $100, and make it $250 for top qualified Traditional SS, final sheet

Anybody else?

Jeff Teuton 07-05-2016 11:10 PM

Re: Indy I will start How far under

I will see your $250 for SS, and raise Stock to $250, but still gotta be a Mopar. Who else is out there? Edit; I will pay $250 to the fastest Qualifying Mopar 2007 or Older on the final qualifying sheet. Again no FS/X or FS/XX and no Drag Paks. Hopefully Mopar will take up the Drag Paks, More as it becomes available. How about some others??

How about highlighting some of the more obscure pools this year: what color will Mr Bill's PJ's be, striped , pattern, cartoon, or something else; how long it will take the Emmons brothers to park after Red Man leaves. How many will be in the barn and how many will leave all smiles. and so on...............................

See you at Indy if the old bomb will run fast enough. Will there be any nine second B/S or B/SA, This and other questions will be addressed at this years "Big Go" Will Dan get #99 or #100 or both, a double up would be way cool except for the folks in the other lane.
