Brainerd Camp fee
I seen that it costs $10.00 per person per day to stay at the track between divisional and national for Monday and Tuesday. Anyone know what we'll get for that $60.00? I assume because other tracks haven't done this in the past that it's a Brainerd charge not NHRA?

Re: Brainerd Camp fee
My guess that would be to pay for the personnel to man the gates 24 hours per day and what ever security they need for that time. Clean the bathrooms and pump the portolets.

Re: Brainerd Camp fee
The same thing you get when you are required to buy there pit sticker for $10 at the div race coming up this weekend. I asked last year where the money for that goes and no one could give me answer. 300 racers x$10 each that's a quick $3000 money grab for $20 worth of pit bike stickers. It's a Brainerd thing.

I like that the campers can come look at our cars in the pits for free, but racers can't go check out the campground without a $30 wristband. |
Re: Brainerd Camp fee
You can always leave the track and stay at a hotel. Seems like the $40 would be a deal. Or you can not go to the races. Even better deal.

And they wonder why they are running racers off.

Re: Brainerd Camp fee
No track sez Money Grab quite like Brainerd International raceway....When the unfortunate Tornado ripped through the track a season ago they asked for volunteers to help clear the debris....I think they did provide bottled water for the volunteers....Yes it's true, they charge the RACERS to go to the other side and visit the ZOO....but as the Hawk stated...We can stay home .....

Re: Brainerd Camp fee
True that the track has to pay for the staff to man the gates, empty the trash etc during the week. We look at it as a convenience fee I suppose, it works out a lot better for racers coming far away to pay $10 to stay per night at the track. In years past when competitors were lined up on the road course there was no charge for that.
When you figure in all of the cash we spend elsewhere this is pretty cheap. And yes, the paying to get into the Zoo fee has never made sense to me, but some things never do..... |
Re: Brainerd Camp fee
I am very aware of the fact that I have a choice of not going, paying or leaving for those two days. Still thinking about leaving but not for a motel. Also it's not $10 per day it's $20 since there will be two of us. I know it's not a lot just by itself but it all adds up. I didn't know if we were getting water and electricity for that price or what it was for. I understand having to pay a gate keeper but not security etc. or other parked racers should share those costs. Thank goodness they don't have lights that we need to pay for too! LOL

Re: Brainerd Camp fee
I can remember years ago at Ennis being told we could not stay at the track over night in our living quarter trailer . There were people everywhere and all you could here is generators and a/c units and smell bbq. I told them I would leave when they knocked on every camper and we all leave together. They left me alone after that.

Re: Brainerd Camp fee
They have to go a ways to top 'ol Billy Meyer at Texas Motorplex, the time(s) they sold coupons at a couple of booths to be used for food/drink, and by coincidence the face value never matched concession prices, so you always had 1-3 coupons left over, and so nice, coupon booths closed early....I figured at least 10,000 left with a few unused in their pockets

Re: Brainerd Camp fee
Brainerd charge years ago was collected by the Lions club I believe. When I asked what I got for the charge they said security. I then asked how much people who left paid for security. Nothing. So I asked if I am here with my car I need no security at night but that argument failed also. I told them I would leave and after going out to dinner returned. We also were harassed about " no dogs" so our mini dachshund became a ferret and passed inspection.
Yes charge was per person. |
Re: Brainerd Camp fee
Darrel if you think that`s bad . Try hotel price`s 250.00 to 400.00 a night. If you can find one with in 50 miles of the track. National`s weekend talk about a rip off.

Re: Brainerd Camp fee
We have our motorhome. Right now we are planning on leaving with it. We'll just find another place to park. As far as security....I heard an hour or so ago that several rigs were broken into last night. Maybe they don't get the good security until Sunday night.

Re: Brainerd Camp fee
$10.00per night per person (2) for 3 nights = $60.00 per couple. Assume it is all profit since it is likely that no additional expenses will actually be incurred. Security and gate management will be necessary for the zoo crowd with or without racer campers. Of this 60.00 profit at least 35.00 will go to pay state income, property, and sales taxes AND federal income taxes. $25.00 remains for the track owner. Maybe they make too much money...maybe they will go broke...maybe they will sellout to a developer.
Free markets work. Pay and stay or leave and have fun exploring Minnesota. Just remember where those rich people that need to pay more taxes get the money to pay "their" tax bill. Elections have consequences. Some racer should buy the track and do it "right"😉🏎💸🎉🇺🇸 Doug Jonak |
Re: Brainerd Camp fee
I do know from my circle track friends that tracks that treat you right have more racers and more repeat racers which draws more fans. Whoever said " You can't sell a hotdog to an empty seat" was certainly correct.
