Hi kids - Well if you're not here shame on you as the season is winding down and the points are becoming more and more important .With only this race and one more the chance to become a Division Champion is becoming slimmer to most of us .But then there is the possibility that we could have a repeat champ which if my memory is correct hasn't happened in awhile .Every round is being counted now .

Also the weather is just peachy - sunshine , blue skies and all that kinda stuff with more on tap for the entire weekend .All that plus the Cecil County management has the place looking great and are working on the track as I type preparing it for the test n tune later on today .Plenty of good pit space still available so come on down .

As expected the track here is good - the weather - not so much .Those who made a pass were not treated to good ET's with the exception of Steve Szupka who is warming up for Indy .

As the afternoon wears on it's getting warmer but numbers are getting better .Stay tuned - by seven or so it will cool down .......Just turned on my weather station for the latest figures - Barometer 29.60, Vapor pressure - .64 , Grains of water- 97.8 , humidity- 50.6%, - final DA - 2900 .

Test n tune ended earlier with everyone who went on the track happy .It wasn't fast but consistent as some were tuning for here while others were warming up for Indy .

Good morning - And welcome to day 1 of the 2016 edition of the Lucas Oil race here at Cecil County Dragway .After some showers during the night the Sun is out this AM and we're drying out - hopefully we're start somewhere around 9 .Speaking of weather it's already 75 degrees with 66% humidity that will somewhat dry off as the morning goes on .The barometer is 29.60 w vapor press at .58 that leads to a final DA 0f near 2300 feet.

Stock got their first hit in and even with the heat and humidity most had a respectable pass .Sheets coming as they become available .........S/S up soon .

Great job Jack! I am here but haven't had a lot of time for any reporting I've been busy visiting a few people and meeting lots of new fellow racers. I will try to get in on the action a little later.

Cleanups and top eight are finished - new sheets for both Stock and S/S .......A little side note - David Barton has been in the top eight races three times this season and has qualified three times ....but in three different cars ! ! ! Hmmmmmm.............

Good morning gang - This morning we here at Cecil County woke up to what we wanted - sunshine and more blue skies .But because of bad weather that is to arrive tonight we are on a hurry up schedule today and are even starting early .We are to be on the track at 8:30 sharp and the NHRA will try and finish as much as possible today and could even finish the race entirely tonight .Even at this early hour people are moving around getting prepared for the early start .

Weather at this moment - 74 degrees - 63% humidity -.55vp-82.9 gow -29.54 barometer - almost 2300 feet DA .

Thanks for all the reports Jack much appreciated. Good luck to you and Billy. Just wanted to warn you and all racers about Brake Safety Week which is September 11th through 17th, The report says many officers will be doing level one inspections through out the country mainly targeting brake systems and credentials. In Division One this will effect Racers going home from Englishtown.

Stock just finished their final qualifier with S/S coming out in about a half hour .Looks like it's about .02 slower than yesterday .DA was just over 2800 feet .

Vic C's '16 Camaro is a stocker in disguise it looks like .

My best guess is that elims will start around noon to 1pm ....we'll see .

Round one of Stock is finished finally as it took more than an hour to run forty some pairs .To say the track wasn't perfect would be an understatement for sure - if you were racing a FS type car and were in the right lane it wasn't going to be a good day for you .They just don't understand that a track that's good for a traditional stocker will not hold the horsepower an FS car makes .

In their defense they tried to fix it - probably 10 times they sprayed (and dusted - but never dragged ) during that first round but to no avail ..........This is Stocker racing but we spun like Funny Car ! ! ! !

Happy camper I'm not .......can you tell????

I think you, me and just about every other FS car out there are not happy. No point in owning a fast stocker at this event, since you just have to slow it down with tune up or pile on rear weight. A couple of squirts of **** and some rosin with a mop doesn't do a damn thing when you can't ROLL through it. The Challenger has not spun in over a year, and even moving over 18" there was nothing left. The highest car count class at the track gets the worst treatment yet 17 COMP cars get an hour of scrapping and dragging. It is NOT the track either....In 2 weeks, cars with 3000 hp and a street legal radial tire will try and flip over on the starting line at the Yellow Bullet Nationals. The Cecil staff takes the time to allow each class the best surface possible. Take a look at round 1 on how many cars spun. Yes we are all on the same surface but all stockers are not the same, some can run FASTER than super Gas and Super Comp but with half the tire and not being allowed to put rubber down even up to where the rear tire will be. Just allowing that would be a great help.

As hard as the NHRA and Cecil County staff tried in the end it got dark and they threw in the towel . Stock got round 2 in and S/S barely got in one round .
We'll resume tomorrow morning at 8:30 sharp .........In the meantime enjoy some rd 2 Stock photos .

Well I hope Ken doesn't fire me for lack of reporting but I took the weekend off! I had a mechanical issue 3rd round but had a great time this weekend. Got to meet lots of good people and appreciate everyone's hospitality.
Even with the issue this morning I was so thankful not to have been dead late on the tree after hanging out at the Bender's last night.
