"Live" from Bowling Green Div. 3 2016

We are here testing today along with others who have the track rented today. We have been here since Sunday when we came for the Combo race. Dallas is NOT letting anyone stay inside the race track. We had to pack up everything and move outside after we got beat at 11:00 pm on Sunday night. Then we came back in at 8 this morning. And then we have to move back out at 5 this afternoon whenever the test session is over. Nobody is saying when we are going to get to park. As far as I know, it is 9 am on Thursday like the schedule says!

The weather this weekend looks like typical Bowling Green with highs in the 90s and the humidity back!

More later!

A Race Track spends thousands of advertising Dollars to get Racers to show up Pay the entry fees and to put on a show for the tracks paying customers
Then when They show up they say no you will have to wait to get . This is always a puzzle on why the track does not let the show in early just to show appreciation for them as they are show for paying customers as well

I am confused lol ?

Re: "Live" from Bowling Green Div. 3 2016

Just thinking out loud here, but if you allow racers to stay overnight inside the track, wouldn't you need someone to man the gate all night ?

I'm not sure Dallas would leave the gates open unmanned.

Just a thought

I suspect most tracks have a umbrella policy covering their place 24/7

No i believe that he might miss gate money on one person, yes it is his show, and people
still like him.

If it were me and I was the decision maker or owner of a track I would have to realize that the racers now a days have time on their hands .
They can show up early cause they can and chose to.
So I would welcome them with open hands and Open Pits as early as possible on a first come first serve with only one pit space being able to be saved for one friend only .
I would have all kind of services availability for them and their wives and friends . such as a tour or RV services or another service to make MY Customers feeling needed and happy to spend their money with my track .

Now since a track has to pay for overhead I would even charge an early fee to cover the early overhead costs that was create . The fee would be moderate and fair for all cause the racers are the entertainment in most causes and in most cases would not mind paying for this .
The early pitting would alleviate the huge rush for the late arrivals so there would be no need to hire extra staff all Pitting would be much orderly and calmer :D

Guys, there is a campground adjacent to the track for early arrivals. There are plenty of rides in the amusement park for your little ones. The track sells ice for 3 dollars a bag......No one is forcing you to attend.....

Beach Bend is one of the best tracks in the country! It is always clean, the food is good, the track hooks, the scales work, and everyone lives by the same rules. Just not a lot to gripe about. "Try it you'll like it"

Re: "Live" from Bowling Green Div. 3 2016

Test and tune yesterday went well, the only failures were transmissions in some high HP cars, and Doug bent an oil pan and scuffed a bearing. Doug should have it fixed for Indy, and he might even have wheelie bars installed. As the day wore on the heat and humidity took its toll on performance.

I agree.

Nicest track I have ever been to and is well managed.
Looks really sharp now with all the new blacktop this year.

Probably one of the last tracks around that allows you to get close to the action and those covered grandstands are nice.

I remember hearing that song years ago.

If I was retired, I would want to live around the Bowling Green area.
It's has become a gearheads' dream town between the Beech Bend track and the new Corvette Museum race track as well as being home to several aftermarket parts companies.

Take a look at the Beech Bend schedule,I don't know if there is another track in the country that host as many different races as they do,they know how to run a event and get it done.

What I heard Sunday afternoon, was that it was Jay Hullinger telling Dallas everyone must be out. I don't know if that is fact or not though.

Larry Hill 08-24-2016 11:35 AM

Re: "Live" from Bowling Green Div. 3 2016

We were also told that it was Hullinger that wanted everyone out. After we finished up at 5, Dallas told us to get loaded up because he was going to open the gate. So we all got out and went to the paved holding lanes that you see as you come in thru the main gate. He let us all pull in first and we are supposed to get parked first whenever parking begins. Then he opened the gate and the ones in line at that time filled up the rest of the lanes here. When we got back this was mostly full and this morning they are lined up all back down the road. I read on Facebook that Redman is going to be here at noon, but nobody has said exactly when we will begin parking! (Hey Edmond, we are behind you! Come on back!!) I will let ya'll know when we start moving!

The weather is looking like typical Bowling Green for the weekend==HOT AND HUMID with a chance of showers!

But it is always FUN!!

I may be wrong .... but I believe the flyer states "24 hour gate after opening" .... Thursday.
But a racer who's already there may be more help.

Re: "Live" from Bowling Green Div. 3 2016

Gates open all night! We got back from dinner about 10 and rigs were still moving in! Cudos to Redman for parking every rig today. Started at noon and I don't know when he finally quit. I don't know if people are parking themselves as they come in tonight or what.

Today was typical BG weather. It is still 81 degrees at 10:30 and only going down to 74 tonight. Looks like the AC may run all night! Lots of people here. We met Scott Gove from Maine today. He is one of our competitors in A/SA. Plus he also has a Super Stock car. Seems to be a very nice man. John Cooper is here with his T Bolt, what a cool car.

Tomorrow is test and tune day and tech day. Weather looks good with now rain. At $75 to test, I imagine it will be a very busy day.

I am planning to get out with my camera tomorrow when people get out their cars.

Good night!

More later!

Rumor has it that they have been practice parking at a Flying J, Indy requires all parts of "your game" to be spot on. Hope they have a safe trip.

Well there has been lots of testing and tuning here today. The weather is just beautiful. It is almost 5:00 and it is a balmy 93 degrees with a heat index down to 100 from 103 earlier this afternoon. The track has been hooking even in this heat. I took quite a few pictures today but the internet is not wanting to let me upload them. Maybe it will be better later tonight.

The Quick Fuel dinner starts here shortly so we are about ready to head over there. Thanks Quick Fuel for providing for the racers and their crews!!

Re: "Live" from Bowling Green Div. 3 2016

I've had this hunch for a while that the collective pool of Stock Eliminator racers is "old". I watched 46 Stockers on D3 TV this morning make their first time run today and recorded the drivers age. The average was 53.8. And of course, it's completely invalid since it's just a subset of the complete field at BG. But A mental scan of the Stocker racers I know makes me think that the average for the entire field would not be that far off.

If there's anybody that watches a full round of Stock - or SS, record the ages and post the average. I headed to the beach ( as in ocean beach).

And in the interest of full disclosure, I'm old - and well above the average age stated above.
