What To Do With DNQ FS/XX Cars
If they are fast enough put them in the alternate pool based on fartherest under there "softer" index.
Everyone should enjoy the complete Indy experience, the second guessing of themselves, being on the bubble, and one of the best feelings, that only the chosen few know, is making it through teardown. |
Re: What To Do With DNQ FS/XX Cars
If they don't qualify send them home, just like the real stockers who don't make the cut. They can stay and watch the rest of the weekend if they like.

I believe if they sign up for the shootout they have accepted the possibllity of not qualifying for the show therefore they should be out. NHRA should look into a 12 or 16 car field in both X and XX.

Send them home just like if they were the 17th and 18th Qualifer in Pro Stock or Funny Car No different! They wanted to be in the Big Time.

Re: What To Do With DNQ FS/XX Cars
I couldn't agree more with the previous posts. If they choose to run the shootout, then they should only be eligible for the shootout if they're running against the shootout index.
I continue to think the new cars are great for the class but we need fair and consistent rules for everyone. Maybe all of the traditional classes should get 2 tenths of index back at Indy to even things out during qualifying. |
Re: What To Do With DNQ FS/XX Cars
Last year at the St Louis LODS, J Hullinger showed me a email that he received stating that the Sportsmen Racing committee had voted not to change anything about how Stock eliminator is run at Indy(as in all run,or FS cars having their own eliminator). So if you would like to see a change at Indy, I suggest you talk to your Division rep.

Re: What To Do With DNQ FS/XX Cars
Why not make it a separate "class" in conjunction with stock and have it all run, not to interfere with normal stock eliminator?

Re: What To Do With DNQ FS/XX Cars
Brett, something like a CIC race! I agree it would be nice to see more of this type of racing, I think it should not only be 8 cars with blown and NA cars competing for the same spots. If they did 2 classes and bring it to a 16 car field a lot of issues would be solved, on both ends.

Re: What To Do With DNQ FS/XX Cars
Put them in COMP where they would be more at home !!

Re: What To Do With DNQ FS/XX Cars
What is the assumed destiny for the FS/XX cars that don't make the top 8 this year? Same as last year - where the non-qualifiers "transfer" into Stock?

It should be a choice: cake or ice cream, Stock or Factory Shoot Out, but not both.

Or make it a 16 car field - like the PROS. |
Re: What To Do With DNQ FS/XX Cars
Last year it was a 16 car field, 8 blower cars and 8 n/a cars. The final was the winner of each class. The rules have been changed so that the n/a cars are not competitive any more. They all got to race in Stock. Nhra and the manufacturers have screwed this deal up big time. These cars should be featured on Monday at the US Nationals. They should not be able to run in stock at the bogus indexes they have. Every one of these cars has an index in FS that if they want to run in stock eliminator they should have to run on.
