Big doin's at this years 'Dutch'

This year if different - the last hurrah of the year will be big thanks to Maple Grove Raceway and PC Richard & Son .Usually its the Hemi Shootout along with National Record runs but this years version ( the 45th by the way ) offers something for everyone with larger purses .

Check out all the days on the flyer attached. Then next weekend pack the trailer - get the wife and kids ready - even bring your pooch along but don't miss it .If you're a class racer or on index racer this deal is for you .

BTW- if Shootouts are your thing just check out Saturday's action .

More on this as it becomes available ...........

All nice and well for the S/SS cars that for the most part are big dollar cars. Why doesn't some one run a package race for one round of qualifying, like Dave Lay used to do long ago? Even the low buck guys can get in on it.

Not a bad idea. That being said, many great ideas that are proposed don't ever happen because someone just wants someone else to do it. I am a big supporter of taking a good idea and doing something about it. Don't get pissed because someone else didn't pick your idea and do all of the work to get it going.

James, I guess you know I sold all my stuff in 2010. Tired of the long time away ( I usually always got to Div. races on Weds.) ,rediculous expense to travel and entry fees, the long drawn out waiting times to get on the track, etc. etc. The package race required 2 or 3 people to run, Dave and Gloria did a great job doing it and it gave everyone going down the track to hit a small bonus jackpot for the weekend. I guess everybody is in their own little world now.

ED, i see your calling. Since you sold your race operation, why don't you organize the package races at the Div 1 races? You saw how it was done in the past. Be part of the solution!

I still have a life and a job. The only races I go are the Div. and Nat'l at Englishtown. I'm suggesting the package race only for the Dutch. I'm sure there's a few knowledgable spectators who attend who can handle the job.

Ken
They are taking the Top 8 under the index for Stock & the Top 8 Under in SS.
for this Flat Out Shootout.
Look at a couple of threads below this one. It will say: " Gold Rush is adding to the pot"
something like that, anyways..
See you up there.

Let's change up the conversation here with a trip back in time to the 1972 Dutch Classic. Here's the flyer for the race - makes for an interesting comparison to this years edition posted by Jack. Note the date - June - and held on a Friday and Saturday with Sunday in reserve as a rain date.

If there are any Maple Grove historians in the house - when did the Dutch transition from this Spring date to the Fall date like today?

My parents and I went to our first Dutch in 1993. So it's been mid-October at least that long.
