LAS VEGAS - 138 Stockers

Wow, Stock looks like its alive and well at the Vegas points meet. I wonder if this is the highest car count for a division 7 race? 138 trying to qualify has to be a record for this time of year anywhere. Even Super Stock had 95, I wonder if this is a good sign for next year.

Yeah and 135 of them complaining how little respect they get from NHRA and wondering how they can pull strings to get into the next overpriced event!! Go figure.

I think this is a very good sign!

Just for fun, I went back and looked at the car counts at the 2006 Vegas divisional. There were 132 Stockers and 104 SS'ers that weekend. To be close to or even above those levels 10 years later is pretty cool, I think.

Seems to me last year there were around 108-109. Amazing how some things grow.

It used to be you got more points if the field had more than 128 cars is this still the case?? Tom

Tom, stk/SS is limited to 128 cars, 3 racers got in as alternates and oddly enough 2 had to run each other....good luck to everyone.....

National event entries are limited due to time constraints and pit space requirements. How about a 256 car field at Indy? It's only one extra round.

And we can have by backs as well!

No, leave it at 128. If your car is not fast enough to qualify at Indy, work on your stuff or don't enter.

Yes, that race still smarts a bit, and especially since I was #129 by just .012, and just a change in how I ran my final qualifying run would've improved my position. Since I was an alternate, I ended up getting only 10 pts from that race instead of at least 30 had I made the original field....I'll be more aware of this next year!!!!

Todd, you're dead on. Indy is not a "buy back" bracket race.

You should have iced that biotch on the last q attempt, you were fortunate to get in as an alternate....

They probably get treated like humans with race cars at the divisional races instead of fillers at the National races (oh yea, we gotta run those little guys sometime)

Well, they've (NHRA) got to keep proving to the IRS that they're keeping us off of the streets. Why do you think that they HAD to raise a stink about the Street Outlaws? Then they got Big Chief to make a Public Service Announcement! NHRA got them off of the streets!

or get an oddball underrated combo or some newer bogus stuff rated 100 hp lite !! Those 15 new cars outta the top 20 must have worked so much harder than everyone else!!!

Qualify or go home and work on your stuff. It's not like today's Little League baseball where everyone get's a trophy. Earn it!
