fenderwell vs underchassis headers

What are the advantages/ disavantages of either design?

What kind of car?

Re: fenderwell vs underchassis headers

I think the only difference is the requirement to fit.

Example, with my S - 10 fitting a fender well header is the best option. An under truck header would simply not be practical.

Oh, well in that case, it's gotta be fenderwell.

If you had a flow bench you would know that a 90 degree Bend close to the flange does.
Don't have that flow loss with fender well headers. Those would always be my choice when I had room.

Well you kinda answered my question before I asked. Lol . I have both options but was shying away from cutting the inner fender (69 Barracuda), should check if allowed. I would make them up anyway because the store bought ones are 2" and I want 1 /3/4 or 1 5/8 primary's in a step design.

If the application is a 69 Cuda, you should talk to Mark Leilchook at Performance Welding. He builds the best header for your application.

I would always choose under chassis headers. I like the tallest front tires I can fit. There may be lots of room on a 55 chevy but that is not the case on an A body Cuda as well as several others.

Then I would have more money in the headers than the whole car. LOL

Also, fenderwell header collectors point at the ground and stir up a lot of dirt/dust.

They're run first to clean off the track

They don't have to. Some turn them toward the rear on the end.
