LIVE from the 2016 PRI Show
I'm getting this started early since it's lots easier to type this out on a real computer instead of my iPhone. I'm just about ready to pull out of Detroit and will be at the show later this afternoon for set-up.
Should be a good show - lots of "spicy and chaotic" topics in the air right now that will see plenty of discussion and debate on the show floor. See ya there. |

PRI is good tonite exhibitors. In addition to providing sandwiches and drinks at lunch they throw a great happy hour party at Lucas Oil Staduim.

The crowd today at PRI was the biggest and best that I've ever seen here. A number of the long time exhibitors here made the same comment place was packed. Ken is right on when he says it's like being at the track - it seems like everywhere you turned there was a familiar face a hand to shake and somebody you wanted to spend some time visiting with. Didn't take pictures, but we had breakfast with Larry and Chris Hill. Also saw Thomas and Clay Barnett, Wade Owens, Mike Welfel, David and Ryan Walther, Dennis Patterson, Perry Simpsons, John Armstrong, and a dozen others. Can't keep up with everyone we've seen. Mike Crutchfield is in the Phoenix booth. And as Mike said, the crowd is big today.

Here are a few more photos from the GM camp and from the Ford tower. Ford did not have a Cobra Jet here, Mopar was not here. The last two are engines consider for stock, just kidding folks, but can any one guess what the last one is.
I caught Evan Smith on the Indy type simulator, he told me it was a blast. |

The PRI Show IS "Candy Land". If your not a gear head when you go in the door, chances are you will be when you have to leave. Its just like racing, business during the day and food and friendship in the evening. Put it on your "list"

I ran into Billy (there's only one Billy - Nees for the new readers here) at the Stahl the booth where he introduced Kerry Hitt, the gentleman that's responsible for keeping the Stahl Header brand alive. Kerry and Jerry were long time friends and Kerry gives Stahl plenty of credit for what he's learned about racing.
Billy had plenty of interesting ideas to share about the state of class racing along with intriguing thoughts to make it better. Turbochargers were everywhere at the show. It seemed like most of the high end engine eye candy had a huge Turbo on it. And lots of the cars on display were packin Turbos too. Outside the Class Racing world - and especially with any racer under 35, Turbos are king.

I believe that it is some FE based engine as the distributor does not go through a 429 intake. It must be a cammer as the valve cover does not sit on any part of the intake.

Had some informative and fun conversations during the PRI show. However most informative on NHRA and Stock Eliminator was with Larry Hill during the Advanced Engineering Technology Conference (AETC) which was held the two days prior to the PRI show opening.
