Chrysler Solid Roller Lifter Question

Is there any companies making tie bar style solid roller lifters for a Hemi or Big Block Chrysler engine ? Looking to avoid hurting pushrods when using high load valve springs .

Re: Chrysler Solid Roller Lifter Question

I would look at Erson or Jesel then call both of them tell them what you are trying to accomplish and ask for their suggestions. We used Erson with a .225 offset to get the proper pushrod geometry. They work and only took about 3-4 weeks for them. Fed:&7

I was hoping there was an off the shelf lifter , that someone was currently using . Someone else must be having the same problem of galling the ends of pushrods that I am having .

Your problem might go away if you used the correct engine oil!

Mine is not Chrysler, but my Isky RedZones were doing that to intake pushrods at the rocker. If yours is also hurting them at the rocker, this may help: My lifters had an oil hole just above the band machines around the lifter body. I used a 3 cornered file to add a small groove from that band, up to the oil hole. Simply put a little more oil up the offending pushrods. My intakes only hurt pushrods, but they were 1.8 ratio, my ex were just 1.55. Hope this might help yours.

Most of the Chrysler lifters have no band , and no holes drilled for any flow to the pushrod seat . Jesel makes a keyway lifter, that will oil through the pushrods, to work in a Hemi , but with the bushings, and all the machine work , it gets real pricey . If someone made a lifter that was similar to the way a Chevy lifter works, but for a Hemi , then that would solve the problem . Then a guy could buy hollow style pushrods , and oil the rocker balls directly through the pushrods. That is what I am looking for.

Try MRL Performance. I've got a set in a small block with jesel rockers- don't even have to bush the block.

The AMC lifter used in a BB Chrysler will oil through the pushrods.

Your right. The Chrysler lifters have no oil band because BB Mopar blocks are not gun drilled through the lifter bores for oiling ( unless aftermarket or specialty machine operation).
I had several B1/TS engines that I outfitted with spray bar oiling in the valve covers. Still had intake galling issues. My resolution ended up providing room for larger diameter, heavier walled push rods to combat flexing ( pole-vaulting ) push rod that caused impact galling.

I have to push back on your statement . All the factory blocks are drilled to oil the lifters , they were available with hydraulic lifters , so they needed this oil gallery .

You are correct. I really have to learn not to post things before I have coffee.
The blocks I was using and thinking of were Indy and KB. They did not come with lifter oiling...duh!

How about Comp Cams. We used their stuff for years in the Hemi motors before they went around the world nuts.

Re: Chrysler Solid Roller Lifter Question

Same as Jeff said, comp cams makes a pushrod oiling lifter. I've used them successfully. Also look at your pushrod tip material, trend makes some material that won't gall, a little pricey though...just some FYI

I have been using Comp stuff , but did not know they had a lifter that oiled up through the pushrod . I will check with them also .

Crower and Morel also offer it.
