Just wanted to say thank you to NHRA staff for shi%%ing on the sportsman races every chance they get.
As if National events were not jam packed already you guys go and add more BS exhibition runs to National events. Great job Peter, Glen and the rest of the NHRA staff. Because Jet cars will bring in the fans over top fuel and funny cars. LOL

Should be neat lol hopefully stock gets to go after them when they melt all the rubber off the starting line lol ! I knew I sold my car just in time lol .

I guess they are saving more money no track prep no oil downs !

Re: nhra-announces-jet-car-program

My take: Since its the end of the night, after TF #2 under the lights, why not squeeze in a few big wheelstanding stock and superstockers in before the jets.......Not a qualifying run, a very limited wheelstand contest for selected racers......for money of course......$2,500 to the winner? Fans would like it, wheelies under the lights.

Since the national events are all about performance, then stock and superstock could do its unique performance art in front of the fans, when they are actually there, and paying attention.

Might attract some new racers and fans , and god forbid inspire a kid or two to do what we do.

Its an idea, and I'd gladly put another run on the dakota in the 9inch tire class, I am sure Mike Iacono would be game with with his Pink wheelie machine.

Eric

What's the oildown policy for jet cars? Don't they "oil" the track every time they make a run?

We all know they do.

Two things need to change. No.1, all Jet Cars must be front engine chassis only. After No. 1 is accomplished, we then move to Eric's
evening Stock/SuperStock show. J.R.

I like the front engine idea.

X 2 Charlie. Nhra should make it mandatory that every fuel car Shall Smoke the Tires 100 ft or be DQed. wtf. The big long burnouts always got the crowd going. That was the show long loud burnouts.
Like we have time for jet cars. More $$ But not for us

When these 'Jet' cars are called to the lanes, everyone with a Cobra 'Jet' should join in the fun!

We probably need to make sure someone is watching to make sure they clean the whole damn track before they start running Stock at 8:00 the next morning! I won't be at the front of that line. Mike McMahan 2543 H/SA

It should make qualifying interesting, because you sure as h#ll don't want to be in the first three out the next morning. Will it be, no one goes up before the pros go up to see who will be in the fourth pair down?

Essentially same thing happened to Paula Cotten as I recall; inadequate cleanup at the end of prior night's racing. If they don't clean it up right away there's no way the night dew isn't going to make it worse.

Re: nhra-announces-jet-car-program

At the last Gators that I ran a couple of years ago I was one of the first three pair out. The roof of my car had a sheet of ice on it that came off at half track, looked like a ball of fire coming from the back of the wagon as it caught the sunlight. Who knows what the temperature of the track was, especially at 8:00 AM with the sun directly in your eyes. Was running Jeff Strickland who had a great view of it. And you all are worried about jet car residue. Don't worry about track prep, think of all the time you have lost due to their presence. First pair out at 7:00 AM

I guess nhra hasn't heard ringling bros & barnum baileys circus has shut
down. maybe side by side jet cars , side by side monster trucks, side by
side cotton candy machines, or the 24hr gainsville drag race, then they can have displays of old time drag race cars that are obsolete copos's hemi cars
etc. they can end the Walley trophy and start the star bucks award a copper
plated Styrofoam cup, I can see the back up in the staging lanes when a
cotton candy machine dosent pass tech, crap crap crap

I always thought NHRA drug the track every morning and prepped it. The "Show Cars" shouldn`t effect Saturday morning.

Did the WWF buy NHRA? What a circus it's becoming, Wally must be turning over in his grave.

They didn't always do the shutdown area.
Believe me it can be a problem.

Re: nhra-announces-jet-car-program

I would hope by now all of you would have realized NHRA'S top brass really doesn't give a rats behind about sportsman racing at national events. But just in case you haven't understood their message they just shot another missile over your heads. I have to laugh at those of you who had bought into their reason for cutting fields down due TV constraints. So how does that work? We don't have the time for all of you who have supported us through the years but we have plenty of time to bring on jet cars. Maybe in 2018 they will bring the quotas to 40 for each class and blame it on the time it takes to run the jet cars. It really sucks that they are in most cases the only game in town. I wish there was something like methadone that we all could take to get rid of this addiction. It sucks when your drug dealer doesn't want you around!!! Barry

I can see that. Something I never dealt with with either my slow Stocker stuff or the dragster when I ran S/C back 15 years ago.

I get the feeling NHRA would just as soon they would not have to deal with us at all.
No tech issues with crap like jet cars.

I want to see the first prototype run of one of those front engine jobs..:D

Makes local bracket racing more attractive, supporting the local Class Associations even better...if they are moving in the "Nitro Jam" direction can't they see how that model failed already? If they indeed keep cutting quotas next year the writing is indeed on the wall (if it's not already).

Best analogy I've heard in a long time. The guy charging you $330 for no tangible product doesn't want your money, yet he's going broke. OMG, what has become of us...

That's an excellent analogy Dan.

There are a lot of us looking at each other and wondering what is going to happen to our sport.

Hope to see you at the races, soon.

Since Feld is closing down Ringling Bros Circus, maybe he has some extra cash lying around and he can buy NHRA and promote the show!

They won't need Ringling's clowns, they are already full staffed in that department....plus lot of Ray Charles (gotta love WJ) drivers in the fuel classes...and drivers like Shawn Langdon have a hard time keeping a seat.

BTW, poking fun simply because I can, but still NHRA is the biggest show in town. For anyone who doubts it just go to Indy (especially on Thursday and Friday).
