NMCA Stock/Super Stock Combo

What are your thoughts on this?

I ran some NMCA stuff last year and I really enjoyed it. Run well, fun event.

I plan to enter their Bowling Green and Indy combo races this year with one of my Stockers.

My Pure Stocker should be able to hit that 14.55 index

I really hope this works out for the NMCA ( car count wise)

They have a well run organization.

I think it is great that the NMCA allows ALL IHRA cars to run.

The local track combo races around me do not allow Pure Stockers :(

DING
Maybe should call them.
See if we can be a Pre Stock Contingency Sponsor with them?

I decided to give NMCA a shot this weekend. #1 It's at my home track! ( get to sleep in my own bed.) #2 my Mom's in town. ( get to spend a little more time with her.) #3 Getting old. ( saves me about 6 hours of driving time to and from G'ville.) #4. I'm still learning this new electronic *****. ( my buddy / tuner David Barton is here.)
My experience so far has been, The organization of NMCA is very good. Registration was very professional. The tech inspection (especially safety equipment) was excellent. The open arm welcome by two NMCA staff members, (when I was met at my trailer and thanked for coming), was a breath of fresh air! ... They even asked me to let them know if I needed anything... Are you kidding me ??
Looking forward to this weekend. I hope the car count is respectable. And at least I can say I was a part of their first STK /SS combo event . - Jim -

Fun organization to race! They really make you feel wanted, welcome, and important. If they would get closer to us, for sure would be running some races.

I might be right there at the bottom as well Rich.
My 95 GT should run right on the 14.55 index if the air temp is less than 90 degrees

Jim Bailey just won the inaugural NMCA Stock/Super Stock Combo. Congrats Jim! Good decision to stay home and race.

So they run the Stock/Super Stock Combo at every race?

Does it run as a standalone eliminator or with something else?

Thanks,
Bill

Stand alone eliminator with only class cars.
They plan to have it at every NMCA race they have this year ( 6 total I believe)

The combo class cars can also enter Bracket 2 as well, if I read the rules correctly

Wow what a field! Why so little car count?

1st race. 1st time running this class at the event. Early in the year. I'm sure all contributed to the car turnout. But look at their other classes. It's not uncommon to have classes of that size at NMCA races.

NMCA treated us very well, great staff and a well run event. Payouts at the track, car show, swap meet and vendors. No reason I can think of not to show up and race with NMCA. How many times has the head of the racing organization you were at thanked you in the lanes for being there?

I agree Dennis.
I have attended both NMRA and NMCA events and have always felt welcomed there.

Their upper management "gets it" and understands and listens to their racers.

The ability to listen to the racers is one of the great things about a smaller organization, unlike a giant corporate sanctioning body.

Dumb move on NMCA to schedule on top of the NHRA points race and Gatornationals just a few miles up the road. There was 68 SS cars and even more stickers at Gainesville. Better scheduling would have meant more cars. I would have gone if it was an off weekend from N and IHRA.

On a positive note, the May NMCA race in Bowling Green , KY is the weekend before the Sportsnationals, so maybe it will attract some class racers that are looking for back to back weekends of racing.

Unfortunately it is same weekend as Norwalk Divisional. Should draw good with the southern guys, but the Indiana and Ohio racers are going to have to choose.

The NMCA 2017 schedule was set in stone long before the new class was added and it would be foolish to expect them to bend over backwards or shuffle just for this new S/SS addition. Neither NMCA or NMRA will ever schedule their events around anything the NHRA has going on...hard to argue with success. ;)

Re: NMCA Stock/Super Stock Combo

Atlanta should have better car counts...likely more IHRA cars since many can't run D2's Galot race and Atlanta is closer for many of the NHRA racers. I watched some of the Bradenton livestream coverage and while the myriad of classes would take some getting use to the ability to enter multiple classes sounds enticing.

I know a racer can enter both the Stk/SS Combo race as well as bracket 2 or Bk-1, but now I am curious if a combo racer can also enter Nostalgia Muscle Car as well ?
Triple enter ?

NMC is index based 1/4 mile with indexes .25 sec. apart. ( V-8 only 1955-1985 Vehicles)

You can enter the bracket races, but you would have to enter another separate vehicle for another class...per the general regs. I am torn between S/SS and NMC myself.
