"LIVE" from Summit Motorsports Park D3 LODRS
Let's get this started. Racers are stacked up in Linders lot waiting for the credentials and parking to start. I'm rolling out of the Motor City in about an hour. With the weak signal that blankets Norwalk, I'll do my best to feed this post with news and photos. And like just about every D3 and Norwalk LODRS, there is the threat of rain on Sunday. While its hot and windy today, a cold front will pass through tonite and temps look cool for Friday and Saturday.

I rolled into Linders Lot at 1:00 and I'm #198 in line. This area is experiencing High winds today that made the tow a little more taxing. The D3 staff has starting selling credentials - it will be a while till my line moves. Stay tuned.

Hats off to the staff from Summit motorsports Park for quickly processing all of the credential sales. They served 200 racers in 90 minutes and two hours after opening they had taken care of everyone. Parking also went well and it's a pleasure to park on the nicely groomed asphalt pits here at Norwalk

John Dourlet made the tow from Colorado and this is the first stop of a multi race divisional and national event early summer tour. This is the weather concern for the race weekend. Right now Sunday looks to be the trouble day with a significant possibility of rain mid day. There has been some talk that eliminations would start early first thing on Saturday morning to try to get a couple of rounds in before the end of the day Saturday. After the rain out at Indy the last thing people would want would be another race that needs to be continued somewhere else |

The weather looks great today with temps stable in the high 50s. That's nearly 30° cooler than yesterday. Looks like they'll be a bit of a headwind that could offset some of the performance gain by the cooler temps. It was a real challenge to post any updates from the track yesterday so be patient if you don't see anything until later today. |

Unk just announced that everybody is going to get 2 hits and then into first round of eliminations. He didn't say how late they would race today.

Seeing all those pics and having raced at that track twice , makes me think I really need to go there again. What a nice place with great staff. The SS/I group of pics are nice, what a car, nice job and I am sure it will run well.

A number of issues during Q1 of SST have put us about 90 minutes behind schedule. It's 12:30 and Stock is about 3/4 done. It's cold in the high 50s with a 8-10 headwind.

This is a heavy rain and we now have big puddles. This is gonna be a while to dry up once it stops. There is a good breeze but no sun to help. But it's only 47 degrees.
So ........ will it be just 1 time shot and THEN to eliminations??????? Looks like more rain is due here around 8:30 this evening I have Q1 Stock sheets but can't get the photo to upload. 83 cars - last year there were 110. |

Is the plan to finish on Sat, or try to get the whole race run on Friday??
I am planning to drive down from Michigan in the AM and would like to know before leaving at 8am Sat. Don't want to drive 2.5 to 3 hours and find out everything was finished Friday PM. Thanks Ron |

The track drying is progressing well with the help of the strong wind that continues to blow out of the north and acts as a headwind. No news yet of any further schedule changes. I'll get the SS sheets and upload them when I can get enough signal to push them through into the World Wide Web.

This is the area where COMP and top alcohol and top funny car normally park. It seems like they're just aren't as many cars here this year. |

Rain is the winner at day one of the Cavalcade of Stars presented by Budweiser. Tomorrow'a schedule is to be on track at 8 AM to continue qualifying starting with Super Street , Stock, Super Gas, Super Stock, Super Comp then start eliminations. Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Comp, Pro Stock Snowmobile, Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car will also get two Qualifiers. |
