Re: Fontana

Very hot and windy. There was a 4 hour wind delay. Second round of stock qualifying it was 92 degrees. Yesterdays test and tune the weather was great. It was about .12 slower first qualifier today. I have a bunch of pics if I can figure out how to post them. One highlight is Luneaks B/SA "MOTOWN MISSLE".

I am going to go jump in the pool and cool off and then try to post pics.

Did Gregg get a new car and not tell us?

No Drag Race Central today...........

No Lucas Live Timing..........

It's almost as if this race is a secret or in stealth mode......

Re: Fontana

Yesterday it was over 100 degrees with minimal wind. The strangest race of first round was Edgecombe A/sa and Roderick G/sa. The Hemi sputtered and died on the hit of the throttle, he got it restarted and cruised down the track and won the race. Roderick broke out. I guess it shows there are thousands of ways to lose a race in this sport.
Also there was something strange that happened with the ladder/final qualifier It showed 69 cars but a last minute revision changed it to 68. I have not gone over it yet to see who was dropped off.
I am leaving in a minute to head back to the track it looks to be another very hot day.
I have more pics from yesterday but need to resize them to post.

Re: Fontana

Some Fontana Observations

THE GOOD

Even with the heat the track prep was superior

THE BAD
No shade anywhere
No running water
Only hot stinky Porta Johns that were not serviced.
Only one food vender selling greasy sausages A snow cone vender would have done bank.
PA system you can't hear in the stands
They charged $20 a day to spectate even on Thursday. ( Norwalk only charged $10 and they have amenities)

The good
I got to visit/bench race with friends
There were lots of Stick cars
My friend Ken Etter won SS in a tight race with Luneak who was working hard on his stuff all weekend.

Re: Fontana

Those observations are typical for Fontana and are reflected in the car count. We see the same thing for NMCA races although we have more vendors people don't like the place and stay away

Rod ,

Thanks for your report and pics. The pics were not coming thru clear on my computer, it could be me, I am ignorant when it comes to posting pics.

Thanks

Re: Fontana

This was the first time I have tried to post pics on here. It wouldn't allow me to post them the first time said they were too big. I put them in my email and let it resize them then posted. I didn't try to open the ones I posted, but that method obviously made them too small and took away the detail. So if I do this in the future how do I resize them so I don't lose detail? I have some more but haven't tried to post them.

I open them in MS Paint and resize. My camera usually gives jpegs around 2.5Meg to 3Meg. I shrink them to 40% before I post, they're usually around 500K after that.
