"Live" from Woodburn Dragstrip

Good Morning All!

My wife and I rolled into the track about 8pm last night and were fortunate enough that the gates were open and got to park before we headed for the hotel. They were parking rigs until 9. Schedule today has tech opening at 9am and Test 'n Tune later in the day. I have a "new" (to us) car here for its first race, but I'll try to at least get some qualifying sheets posted.

If you all have any special requests for car/racer photos, let me know! I'd love to give some of the D6 guys a little exposure. Lot of nice cars, good racers, and good people up in this part of the world.

Stay tuned.

Jared good luck with the new piece, you should be fine, everything worked when it was here! Did you leave the max in or did you go with the other combo? Give Steve W. a hey for me if he's there.

Hi Jared,

If possible, how about a picture of Glembocki's 69 Camaro. Have it on good authority it is making an appearance.

Thanks

Good Morning!

Stock and SS are scheduled for 3 hits today with Stock out first at 9:00. At 8:00, my PerformAire is showing 847' DA to go with 62 deg, 66 %, and 29.92". It won't be slow. I managed to luck onto a WiFi connection here at the track, so I'll try and get a picture or two up before the day's out (including Glembocki's Camaro, which is on the property).

Thanks for the reporting Jared. Good luck to all that are there. Hope all drink plenty of liquids if it gets HOT. I have plenty of friends there and wish I could be there with them. If you can please post qualifying sheets, or I can just wait for DRC at the end of the day. Any pictures that can be posted would be great, no special requests that I can think of.

Stock is in the books. SS on their way up.

Conditions showed: 64 deg, 59%, 29.92", .368 VP, and 960' DA with a 1 mph sidewind.

Re: "Live" from Woodburn Dragstrip

Stock Q2 in the books.

Conditions were 77 deg, 44%, .412 VP, 1803 DA, and no wind. Most everyone slowed down and quite a few guys spun.

More later!

Two photos attached. Robert Glembocki's '69 SS/JA Camaro along with a photo of Bill Parmenter and Gary Howe in their SS Chevy's that ran side-by-side.

If anyone wants to Photobucket them so they display better, feel free.

Stock Q3 out of the way. We're done for the day. Q3 sheet attached. Most were off anywhere between .03-.06 from Q2. When SS gets Q3, I'll get that posted too.

Conditions were 86.6 deg, 31 %, 29.85", .39 VP, 2434 DA.

I missed SS Q3 due to a Walmart trip. Sheet attached.

One of the great things about coming to this race is the Friday night "Golf Cart Drags." Fun seeing all the families out there together. That's what this is all about!

Hey Jared, thanks for the reports and-how about a pic or two of your new ride?

What a nice car Jared has, a real beauty and fast to boot. While talking to Jared today Alan Reinhart dropped by and complimented the car. You can tell he was impressed because he talked it up while announcing Stock.

Hi Jared,

Thank you for the reporting and photos, including Robert G's Camaro. He has touched up the paint on my car several times. Your new ride looks great.

Has Tommy Gaynor been handed the microphone to announce the golf cart race? If so, it is probably a spectacle like no other in racing.

Good Morning from Woodburn!

Forecast shows a high of 80 deg today, but also showed overcast and there isn't a cloud in the sky to be seen. Conditions look slightly better than they did yesterday at this time. Added a couple of cars in Stock and SS both over the night, so it's anyone's guess as to how today actually goes.

More later.

Q4 of Stock is now in the books. It was definitely quicker today. PerformAire's saying roughly .03-.04 better than yesterday morning.

Conditions when I ran were 66 deg, 53 %, 30.00", .344 VP, 927' DA.

I was asked to share a few pictures of our new car and they're attached here. Kudos to Erik and Jeff Bardekoff for the fantastic job they did putting this car together. Thanks to John Shaul for the power, Steve Wann for letting us invade his shop to get it running, and Don Little for all his advice.

Of course, none of this is possible without the support of my parents, Mark & Julie, and a certain Grandpa of mine. ;-)

Stock Q4 attached.

Found some guy named "Chicken" Little wandering around the pits this morning with a shirt he got from Randi Lyn Shipp. He thinks he's pretty cool!

It is Mom's car. Spoiled kid that he is, he will always get to drive it. ;-) At this stage in my life I'm happy to go to the races with my boy, to help fund his dreams. He has provided me with the world's cutest grandson in return!

Edited to add, he's really not "spoiled", that's a term of endearment. He works very hard. I feel blessed we are able to help him chase his dreams.

Thank you, Frank. I am truly blessed. Being involved in drag racing my entire life has helped create a strong family bond. My Dad, me, Jared, the support of our spouses. Not to mention my non-blood family members such as Don Little, Steve Wann, Jim Cimarolli. My husband had a stroke 2 weeks ago (he is recovering wonderfully), if not for that, we would be with Jared & Don this weekend. There is a lot to fault NHRA for but I can overlook most of it because of the fun we have at the track!

Well friends, your live reporter took his wife into Portland and doing a little sight seeing. I'll be away for a few hours and, assuming DRC doesn't beat me to it, will post final sheets and ladders later.

Ok gang, final ladders attached. I know, I know...I slacked off today. Sometimes in life you get what you pay for!

We're down 2 cars that I know of in Stock: Dave Flett and Chuck Rayburn. Not sure about SS.

I have to share. I woke up the other morning and someone had vandalized my car. I know! I was pretty upset too! I attached a picture of the damage. My #1 suspect is that shady Rayburn guy. Gotta keep an eye on him.

Thanks again Jared for all the post and pictures. I love your Dodge, very beautiful car and FAST too.

You, indeed, are a very lucky young man. Surrounded by family that helps you achieve your dreams.

Are you, by chance, going to be at Pacific Raceways for the Nationals or the Divisional up here. I would love to meet you and see your car in person. If so great, but if not good luck to you and your family.

Great job reporting Jared. You have a beautiful car that performs well. That must have been some race losing by.00 If I ever get my car done, I'll see you out there.

I wish I could do either one of those two races, but I have a homicide trial scheduled for August 22 (I'm a prosecutor) that's going to take precedence. I burned up quite a bit of my vacation time taking off this week and the next two to get my fix. I appreciate the well wishes and I'm sure we'll catch up at a race track soon. I'm blessed beyond words, no doubt. Thanks!

Greg Kielman is a very good racer by reputation and he didn't disappoint in my race with him. I knew I'd have to cut it close to beat him. Unfortunately, I used a little too much left foot and didn't quite get my wheel out in front. Hopefully that mistake is nothing a little seat time won't fix! Good luck on getting your car together. Your red Demon was one of my favorites when I was growing up.
