It's been busy today with the racing. 43 cars here today. We are down to the semis. It was Kyle Jeltema over Ben Wenzel - Dan Wolcott over Mike Warren in his V/SA 69 Camaro - and Steve Novosel in his COPO over Dan Steed in his SS 67 Nova. I'll be back with photos later. Sunday was another good turn out with 39 cars making the show despite the rain that blanketed most of Michigan early this morning. Time trials got started just about on time as the sun broke through and it turned into a beautiful 80° summer day at Mid Michigan Motorplex.

Ben and Dave Wenzel were the winners of Sundays combo raise over Charlie Downing in his Cobra Jet. Ben is always tough at mid Michigan and has won both NHRA and IHRA races there. In the quarterfinals Charlie Downing ran dead on to take out John Nechiporchik; Ben Wenzel beat this year's gator nationals champ Terry Nagel; and Brad Zaskowski had the Bye. Ben then bested Brad to set up the final round.

Stick cars winners! Kyle Jeltema won Saturday in his E/S 71 Mustang. Sunday – the last 3 cars were Sticks – Ben Wenzel E/S – Brad Zaskowski GT Stick SS – Charlie Downing F/SSE with Ben winning over Charlie.

The track prep at Mid-Michigan Motorplex was first class all weekend. All the racers – stick and Automatic hooked consistently. The number of dead on and .01-over runs were impressive. In the semis on Sunday, both Ben Wenzel and Brad Zaskowski ran dead on.

Bill and Brad Zaskowski had a mad thrash on Bills’ SS Nova on Saturday after Q1 when they replaced the sliders in about 1 hour and made Q2.

To quote Brad Zaskowski, “…lots of really great races that were as good as any National or Divisional race!”

Mid week weather reports posted to CR turned out to be “Fake News” as both Saturday and Sunday turned out to be beautiful sunny summer days.
