AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Not even a mention here? Isnt this the quickest run ever by a traditional stocker?

"Got a Hemi in that?"
|
Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Love em or hate em, in the traditional Stock/Superstock world, the Hemi is still king. The best of these cars were going close to 130 MPH back in 64, long before today's cam, ring and head technology.

Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Can someone post a photo of this car?

Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516

Beautiful car and an awesome run! Does anyone know if he runs the crossram or the single 4 barrel currently?

That is amazingly quick.

Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Mark Madison is now on the Indy Stock entry list. AA/SA class eliminations should be very interesting. How about Mark Madison against John Cooper ('64 Thunderbolt) during AA/SA class eliminations. Wednesday August 30 can't get here fast enough!

Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Or....maybe Mark Madison switches things up and goes to A instead.
|
Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
How cool would a five round race in A/SA be, "Way Cool"!
|
Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Nope,Mark wants Todd Hoven with some of that Barton power. Should. Be interesting
|
Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Sounds like a personal attack. Why does Mark think Todd will be in AA?
A/SA is the way to go for many reasons. Run A/SA and put your money where your mouth is. Both cars should go into the barn too so NHRA can compare parts to each other to make sure everyone is being honest. |

Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
I think Mark's going there to run AA/SA plain and simple no personal attack just wants that AA trophy. If there's something wrong with that ambition, just let him know, he's a very understanding type of guy.

Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
I agree. What's the issue with choosing to compete in AA/SA?
A/S and A/SA automatic, while genuinely appealing, certainly don't have the significance that the classes once did. Not with "Stockers" that begin to approach the seven second zone. I saw no inference or suggestion of a personal attack. Put another A on the window and jump in. |
Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Mark has worked very hard to get this car where it is. AA or A its gonna run well. A should be fun as well with the 87 laid out last year I'll say with pretty good authority 🤐A gonna take 70,s to get it. Cords may be able to go 50, that's the beauty of Indy

You need to relax. This may be a max effort deal for you which is great and I respect that. But keep in mind we simply rebuilt a bracket engine for Todd to race in Carp's car which happens to be respectively fast. Nothing more than that. Don't get me wrong, we'll give it all we got, but it's not like we spent all year trying to set the world on fire trying to beat Mark Madison. My goal is to watch a good old fashion friendly drag race with some old cars. I hope to be able to watch most of it because I will be sucked into my own drama in the pits. If you come out a winner I will be one of the first to shake your hand. Good luck. |

There is nothing wrong with AA. Running A/SA sounds more fun to me. More cars, more prizes, better index. I guess we'll see what everyone decides. Looks like it will be a lot of fun to watch. I hope somebody gets it all on video. |

Just remember nobody, and I repeat nobody, needs to bypass protocol and go straight to triple dog dare you. Double dog dare is always before triple dog dare.

Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Oh my this is great I can’t wait to see this, makes me want to dust off the Hemi Cuda and bring her out and join the wars, oh wait she’s retired dam it I’ll just need to enjoy it on the side line.:D

Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Apples and oranges here. Last time I followed up on these cars unless things have changed is Mark Madison AA/SA is a crossram car and the Carp/Barton car is single 4bbl car. If you want to throw in another car you have the Travis Hess/ Line car that is also a 4bbl car. How much of a difference does it make ? I don't build 'em . Don't know ! The fun and the money is in A/SA at Indy with the shootout. Everyone has their own agendas. Whatever class you run---Best of luck and safe racing !
|
Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Hoven can't fit in A with out taking the cross ram off he had on at Cecil..Barton knows the single 4 cause he ran it when bombed the index at Indy when the combo first came out that's why our car is 3730 in A..it will be interesting in A or AA but no AA car is going to out run Marks

When exactly did I "bomb" the combination at Indy? Show me the results. That has to be 10 years ago. I remember the combination getting slammed before it ever hit the track because others were complaining about it. Which combination are you running? Iron or aluminum heads? Single 4 or crossram? Sounds like you're claiming the aluminum headed engine which carries extra weight. Put some iron heads on there and lose the weight. I guess it's easier to place the blame on me. |
Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
Ok sorry I was mis informed..
No problem..it's 445 now..we may be AA only soon enough |

Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
David,
Everyone takes a shot at you because you are the baddest dude at the track and with that carries a target on your back. Relax and enjoy your success, you earned it the old fashioned way, hard work. Indy is going to be very special this year. |
Re: AA/SA Mark Madison, Seaside CA, '65 Belvedere 9.516
That's very true..and it's good for some good old fashioned
Who's the baddest talk once and a while..it keeps it fun and interesting? This is supposed to be fun after all? I'm just grateful to be there at Indy |
