Prayers for fellow racer and friend Jerry Davis
 

If everyone could please take a moment to say a prayer for Mr.Davis and his family. He has been our family friend, and my mentor since I started class racing, and it's very hard to imagine him in this state. This is a Facebook post from his son explaining what happened, and asking for prayers. Thank you, God bless.



"Thank you so much for the prayers and wish wells

We are safe a lot of things we're not but if I can tell you one thing about myself, material objects mean nothing and never have. They are just that objects and will be replaced.

I do have a big request though, my father the strongest and wisest man I have ever known collapsed yesterday from what is believed to be a seizure. He has been going through chemo and has missed this last week of treatment due to the devastation in Santa Fe, my hometown. He is in the hospital now in Galveston and is not the same man he was yesterday or the last 71 years of his life. He broke his arm and hit his head, and now knows no one around him and has the inability to even talk or understand what is happening. We and the Drs believe he may be in this state for the rest of his life, which is a bitter pill to swallow watching the man who could do everything. My superman!! strapped to a bed and unable to recognize his own family

I never ask but if there is a time to pray please do. I cannot see this man, this strong man in this state of unknown for one more second!

Prayers for Jerry and his family at this most difficult time. I can't begin to imagine what they are going through, but I know it would be hard to see someone you love in that condition.

I just talked to Sue (wife), and she told me that he is talking to her, but does not remember anything.

Really shook her up, a very strong lady, and truly appreciates all the prayers and concern from his friends.

Looks like he will be headed to rehab and it might be a while before he makes a full recovery.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Such terrible news. Mr. Jerry is one of the nicest guys you could know. Praying for a speedy and full recovery.

Jerry is a wonderful person. Great guy who has never met a stranger. He was one of my first friends when I moved here. Prayers for a speedy recovery! Besides who will keep Bill Bratzen in line! LOL.....In all seriousness I wish him the best and back to normal ASAP!

********UPDATE******
Dad and I just left the hospital, and Mr. Davis is doing much better. He is sitting up, eating, and walking with assistance. His memory is definitely a little foggy, but improving by the minute! He recognized both of us, and instantly began talking about cars, of course. He enjoyed reading everyone's posts of thoughts, and prayers, so please keep them coming! This is a true testament to the power of prayer, thank you everyone!

Jerry, i hope you are reading this. You and I met years ago at the track at Hallsville. I was just starting out in class racing and you came over and spoke to me for at least an hour. We never got to make a pass that weekend but meeting you was a highlight I will never forget.

Get through that therapy and hopefully back to the track soon.
