.Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
Now that IHRA has admitted they have given up on class racing, let's hear from groups around the country that still intend to run Stock and S/S. We are thankful that NHRA and NMCA will continue with class racing in 2018. What about other regional associations or local tracks that plan to keep Stock and S/S alive next year? Let us all know what area your races are located in so racers can start laying out plans for next season. Now is not the time to give up on Stock and S/S. It is time to see it grow on the regional level or even at your local track.

Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
Until NHRA "knee jerks" - it doesn't impact division 6 or 7 - no IHRA out west.
We have been trying to generate alternative options the Arizona stock supper stock association is one example (double race this weekend in Tucson). Thanks to the Hawk brothers. Ron |

Heartland Class Racers
Midwest Class Racers In 2017 we had races in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. |
Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
The Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series will move into their 22 year next season. This year we had 13 races @ 4 different tracks and we are planning to have a similar schedule for 2018. Even talking of revisiting a Michigan venue. Sure would be nice to avoid date conflicts with other nearby groups.

Nice to hear from the Can-Am Stock/Super Stock Series. Now if you could tell us what part of the country you have your races in we would all know and maybe plan to attend a few races next season.
This thread is about informing racers what part of the country there are Stock and S/S races planned. Your local guys know, the rest of the country wants to know too. |

Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
The Can Am series is based in Ontario, Canada, Last year we raced at Grandbend, StThomas, Empire in New York and Toronto Motorsports in Cayuga . We have contacted the GLSSA in Michigan about having a race at Milan which would include both series. It was also mentioned that we could also get together with the Buckeye series in Ohio and possibly have a 3 association champion . ( I think that might be news to the Ohio racers ) .
If anyone from the Ohio series could contact me , we would like to get their views on this idea. And if Mike or Charlie would contact me , we can see if this would be possible. A bigger picture I think would work ,,, if all these smaller associations were to get together, and a larger sanctioning body picked up on this we would have a solid alternative to race with. Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
Doug,
Charlie spoke to myself and Joe Jackson about the same sorta deal. Now more relevant than ever. Are you talking a race with all three associations (or more) racing one event at a track in between all of us? In your opinion, how would this work? A S/SS combo with a shootout of the top 8 or 10 in points in each series with a wildcard drawn of the racers from each series in attendance not in by points? |

Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
What I am proposing is taking one week end of the Can Am schedule , having a double race say at Grandbend. Points would given per round. The GLSSA would have a double day week end the next month and round points given and the same for the Buckeye association .The winner with the most points wins the series.
Charlie had mentioned about a Allstar race where the three different associations take there top ten and run off for a champion , which also could be arranged. |

Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
While surfing through Class Racer posts I see that there is a Carolina Class Racer Association and the East Coast Stock Super Stock Association. Someone want to speak about what area these groups are in and when they run their races.

Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
The Tri-State S/SS Association will allow existing IHRA classes (Pure Stock, Crate Motor, Stock/GT and SS/Production cars to compete in 2018. Our races are usually in eastern OH, western PA, and Maryland. Our season finale, The Mason-Dixon S/SS Fall Classic will be in less than two weeks in Hagerstown MD on November 3-5. One race each on 11/4 and 11/5; the Sunday 11/5 race paying a guaranteed at least $2,000, or more, to win.

I *am* glad to see associations start to talk to each other, finally. I was suggesting this several years ago, when there were neighboring associations who had TWO dates scheduled on top of each other. I had suggested that they take one of the dates and have both associations run at one track, and then both associations run at the other track on the other date, thereby having far more cars, and be able to pay far more, at BOTH events. No one ever did anything with it. |
Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
Seeing the locations mentioned show most if not all the racing is hugging the east coast. In most cases we can race year round out west but not much happens for stock and Superstock racing.

Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
As usual Beard makes valid points. Scheduling race dates to work with HRA races and most groups has always been a headache. Finally we may have some direction to appease the different associations. Conversing will be the key. On a side note: Past history has shown that Series racers for the most part prefer to stay in their backyard and not travel. I would suggest that putting a "team" of players together to make another venue will help to make every ones race turn out better.

Would be interesting to see the Associations organize. Create a Cross Association Points System and National Races. Instead of one or a few guys trying to put an event together. Collaborate and plan. More fun less stress. Have a Super Sized Mike Beard Class Nationals. East, West, Central, South, Canada some corner of the earth, maybe two a year. xHRA sanctioned tracks are limited by their tracks and rules. Pool resources, vendors, marketing, plan two years in advance. Flexibility to make changes of unforeseen issue, schedule, weather. Such as Winter race in Florida or Texas. Summer in Canada. Did you know you can hire a Commercial car hauler that will haul 8 cars and deliver them to the race track? Instead of travelling in eight Prevost Motor Homes and Trailers. Just one or two with more passengers. Our Impala Club does that for big ISSCA events. We fly in or share a motor home. Instead of intense weekend events. Make them longer events such as six days and four races. Add a car show, work with the Gasser community to add to the event. Invite Vendors, entertainment, BBQ/Grill, big camp fire, Open Mike. If close enough a day at the beach, outside entertainment, enough time to share with family and maybe do some site seeing. Make it feel like a racing vacation instead of rush and fury. My 2 Euros :o D |
Re: .Stock and S/S Plans for 2018?
It sure would be nice to have a stock/superstock series of races down south.
