Top Ten Coolest Wagons

Hey everyone, I thought it would be fun to see the top ten coolest wagons racing today. Check out Class Racer Magazine to see if we got it right. Leave a comment and lets us know what you think or post about the wagon that should have made the list. I know there have been lots of cools wagons in the past, I just want to know about the ones that still race today.

All great Ken, but the list just wouldn't be complete without Irving's Aspen! Or the 80 Aspen out of Kentucky(Dale Mears??). Love the wagons..Great write up!

Re: Top Ten Coolest Wagons

I've seen a LOT of cool wagons over the last 40+ years, even raced a couple...my 65 Impala Wagon R/SA and Gary Doose' 62 Plymouth Supply Wagon....but none are as cool as Charlie Boyles and Good Ole Charlie Brown. I only saw his pictures and read articles about him for decades until I moved to Virginia. Now I get to watch and announce him at least once a month at Elk Creek. He runs our Stick Shift Series and even comes out for the Stock/SS events. Amazing car and an absolute Gentleman to visit with.
Without a doubt, The COOLEST of the Wagons.

I apologize and reading is a skill. Current wagons competing in class racing is the topic.

The 427 Fairlane is among the favorites.

Bichelmier's 55 wagon is certainly not a Nomad, but I believe a 150 with 210 trim air brushed on it.

There is just no question hands down that Chris Whitney's is the coolest of them all IMHO!

Coolest wagon ever... also the most feared wagon ever Paul Blevins 55 Nomad G/MP absolutely awesome. I still hear that Mouse motor screaming through the traps at ETown! Sorry it brings me back... But if we're talking current it's tough to top Greg Luneack's Nova Wagon!

I`m partial to Wojo`s Wine Wagon. Somewhat current, hasn't been out in a year.
but lets face it, there is nothing like those Mod.Prod. cars.
How many times do you rewind the launch?

Mike,

Is that Highland Park, NJ Mike Boyles of Jersey Twister fame? He and I went to high School together and i've lost touch with him...

My vote is for Jim Hale with his 383 powered '66 Belvedere wagon. This picture was taken August 31, 2017, where he won K/SA class at Indy.

Kinda liked it better in solid white (sleeper approved) when Everett Hill had the car. But it gets my vote either way. As for Mike Boyle’s car I ran him at Rockingham years ago (during the Billy Meyer dark years) and screwed up
the 1-2 shift because I was too busy watching him wheelie on his gear change...whenever you think you’ve messed up in every conceivable way you can always find another!

You can't do a top 10 without Randall Klein's div 5 wagon, doesn't get any better.

Re: Top Ten Coolest Wagons

Ok. So i gotta chime in here! For me, Chris Whitney's car is one of the coolest. Why? Its huge, its a stick and leaves awesome! Any wagon is cool, 2 door wagons are cooler, but...... when you put a big block and a stick in a huge one, and make it launch like that! I'm in.

I do like Jim Hale's too. Wish they would have made that in a 2 door.

After I win the lottery I would like to build a 1965 Chevelle 2 door wagon super stocker.

I'm with Arvid, I vote for the two ton tomato. Pictures don't do it justice. Not only is it bad fast, it is a beautiful car. Did I mention it is bad fast? The first time at a track and he's number 1 qualifier.

I agree with MJ..........how about Captain Jack's USA wagon. I am guessing that it is probably the longest competing wagon in NHRA and it is way cool. Also need to mention my brother's W/S Pinto wagon that won the stick combo at this years U.S. Nationals.

Hard to believe no mention of Tim Weinzapful's '66 Belair wagon. 283 stick and always qualifies near the top. Go Tim!

If you go to the article he linked in the original post, Tim's is one of the top 5 cars in his countdown I believe.

All wagons are cool to me. From my dad's W/S Pinto, to Irving's Aspen, to Whitney's Fairlane (honestly my favorite by a wide margin), to Captains Kingwood and EVERYTHING in between. I always love these wagon threads!!!

Wow, good guess Marty ....over 35 years racing and still running strong...kind of reminds me of my ole wagon I ran in T SA......a long, long time ago.....
