O/SA questions

hi everyone sorry if im posting in the wrong spot but i was wondering if there is any 350 2bbl o/sa racers out there. im building a 1975 nova with a 350/2bbl combo. im just trying to find out what im getting myself into and if this combo is a reasonable combo to go with.

Re: O/SA questions

The 70 Nova has a larger 2bl, flat top pistons and 10 cc smaller chambers. Rated at the same 224hp so your combination would be at a distinct disadvantage!

Re: O/SA questions

The rating I have found was 155hp on mine

Re: O/SA questions

155hp is the factory hp rating on the 4bbl combo, NHRA rates it at 287hp.

145hp is the factory hp rating on the 2bbl combo you are referring to but NHRA has factored it to 224hp. Sorry it is what it is and good luck with your build!

It's I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth trying to pursue. The o car or jump to a i of j with a 4bbl

I think it would tough for any 2 Brl. combo to compete with
a Big four barrel combo like my 318 Thermoquad
@ 230HP in O/SA........Spinning 7000 RPM plus when
required!

Just my .02

It's really starting to look like I'm going to have to belly up to the bar and run I or j.

Re: O/SA questions

Ya know, this is "one of those" combos that should be getting more help from NHRA. The comparisons have been made to the 70 combo and the 75 combo should be rated less. But that being said, the 75 combo should be able to easily go under the index and if P259 is your number then you're in Div. 2? Unless you're planning on going to Indy, then I wouldn't be worried about heads-up runs in O.

I agree with Billy, if you are indeed from D-2 O/SA would be a good place to hide! D-2 is loaded with killer fast H-I-J cars. Good luck and enjoy yourself.

If you speak to anyone at NHRA HQ, you might want to ask them to fix the Classification Guide for the '75 Nova - no shipping weights are listed for that model, just a repeat of the lb.-per-HP/factor chart.

Good Luck with your project, but just remember that this is supposed to be "FUN", and when it stops being "FUN" we need to find something else to do! :)

This has been a dream of mine for a while but the fun part for me is the biggest part. I'm just new to all of this and some things get a little confusing for me with rules and trying to figure out how to make a car that weighs 3540 go 13.99 at our altitude with a 2bbl lol

I'm new too, very steep learning curve. I have found much info here and working on the car. Good luck and have a blast.

NHRA also wants to see runs at a Divisional before they start making adjustments to HP.

Yeah, they probably should after the dilemma they caused with lowering the horsepower on the 302 2bl Fords.

The hp rating is one thing that confuses me. The 75 is rated higher than 77. Same motor but rated lower. How is this possible?

They do the same on the 68/69 318 2 barrel engine
