Never had the privilege of meeting him, but he was one I kept up with when I started racing. One fast gentleman. R.I.P. Sir.

Back when the NHRA World Finals were held here in Tulsa (mid 1960s) we saw so many Div 1 record holders come here, and were not fast at all. Monster Mash was fast here too. Very impressive.

Re: The Passing of Bill Spyder Spanakos

I remember getting SS&Di sometime during '65 and reading the article about Bill's Monster Mash 55 until I just about wore the magazine out. Spyder and Bill Jenkins were way above everyone else in jr stock at that time. I met him in Gainesville a few years ago when he was running his '65 Chevelle wagon and mentioned to him how much I loved the article and may still have it and he was very kind and genuinely appreciative that he was so well remembered.

RIP Spyder

Rest In Peace Spyder. Remember traveling with him to the LV division race in '95 when I was driving a second car for Andy Kinash and Joe Demarzo. Loved hearing his stories about the old days with Bill Jenkins. Will be missed dearly.

Sorry to hear of his passing. Listened to many great stories from way back. He told me of some of the "tricks" he used on the '55. Great stuff. Condolences to the family.
