Is this required for MH &trailer .I checked on the web ,didn't understand half of it. I think that Larry Hill might be able to help. Thanks Rick.

Rick
I am from Florida and my rig is 68 ft long nose to tail. I have not had any problems in the SE. I don't stop at the scales or agriculture checkpoints either. They won't bother you in a motor home |
Re: Fla. overlength permit
Thanks Mike, I'm about 70 ft. but I have not been in Fla. since 2001 and with all the bs laws we have now you just never know. Rick.

Re: Fla. overlength permit
Rick,
$20.00 for a yearlong blanket permit. We have had one every year since we started racing in Florida. Now that we live in Texas we still get one every year, even if we have no current plans to go to Florida (just because plans change). In the past it has taken up to 3 weeks to get the permit through the mail. This year I had the permit in hand 4 days after I submitted the application. It's a December/off season thing for us. Bill |
Re: Fla. overlength permit
I'm 82'-83' Never had a problem or a permit but I should have one.

Re: Fla. overlength permit
A few years ago Fla Dot stopped and ticketed several sprint car teams for over length rigs. Reports are of heavy fines. Twenty bucks is cheap. The overall length in Fla is 65 feet.

Re: Fla. overlength permit
Rick, for $20 and peace of mind, we just get one every year.

Re: Fla. overlength permit
Just curious; If you planned on going racing to a lot of states, would you have to get a permit for each state you planned on entering or would states recognize permits from other states. It could get expensive real fast just for permits if they didn't.

Re: Fla. overlength permit
I blew passed the Agriculture check point last year and got pulled over within 3 miles. The guy gave me a little hassle, something about not being able to read, and a quick update on what could happen to me, and let me go. I don't tow with a motorhome, just my pick up and enclosed trailer. They musta been bored that night.....So now I just swing in and tell 'em I'm only hauling a car.

Re: Fla. overlength permit
On my trip to Florida from Minnesota, I get the permit from Iowa and Florida. Never been stopped, but peace of mind.

Re: Fla. overlength permit
Thanks Patsy and everyone. Right now the web site wont let me in so I will be on the phone Monday. 20 bucks is cheap insurance for sure. Rick.
