Divisionals/regionals

New to NHRA Stock class. Do you have to preenter for a divisional/regional or do you just show up? If it is just show up what day is optimum to arrive?
Thanks

Well, the arrival date kinda depends on if you are not working, are retired, work for yourself, work for a boss, or just like to arrive early to stake out a nice pit spot and /or Bar B Q with your buds....I have seen racers arrive two days early for a points meet and I have seen Bill Howell arrive 2 hours before tech closes....Maybe somewhere in between ? LOL......

I will try to get there Thurs about noon. There is usually a test session that afternoon. You can at least get parked, and be ready for tech & first round Fri morning. Great tech guys & officials.

All division 2 divisional races are 2 day only events. Friday and Saturday. Most will be there on Thursday to get a good spot and get through tech. It's going to be a cluster XXXX on Friday morning to get parked, Teched and ready for Q 1 on Friday morning. A few of our tracks keep the gate open all night to get in and get parked. That's a help. I have to work on thursdays so I am in that group.

Div 4 went to some 2 day races last year. I hated it. Of course, I'm retired. Taking Monday to drive home is no problem for me. I can see it helping many. The NHRA guys got Sunday off too. Likely the biggest reason. :-)

Since we're on the topic of arrival times, I was still employed when I went to the fall Las Vegas divisional. I arrived Thursday afternoon and after I got teched in I learned I had missed most of qualifying. There was just one shot Friday as I recall. But looking at the schedule (the very, very limited information I could fine online) for the spring race this year Thursday is test & tune and Friday is qualifying. But is this the same deal where I'd need to be there early on Thursday to get more than one run before eliminations?

I'm confused about whether the T&T is just something extra for those who arrive early or if it's important to be there for it if I want more than one run before eliminations.

Here in Div 2 the test and tune is put on by the host track and has nothing to do NHRA or with qualifying.

Same down here, Mike. Track prep is usually not the same.

Same out here in Div. 7....
Run by track and not a qualifier.

Re: Divisionals/regionals

I have been disappointed so many times by test and tune that the track has before a points race in D2, now I just save my money and watch or do maintance. They will use the test and tune racers to get the track in shape for the next day. The problem as I see it, is the choice of traction compound. PJ1 works Lane Choice by VP does not. I don't need a bracket track. I want and expect a dead hook track, I'm always working on my heads-up set up. And the next day when the D2 crew works on it with PJ1 we all have a place to race.

Since Eastexas Racecars did my car, I can turn a few knobs & screws & dead hook it under both conditions. Thankfull for that.

Why when changed from a 3 day to a 2 day race does the entry fee stay the same?

In D6 when we had a double header we got one wrist band for both races. A complete money grab and in both of these cases some kind of discount should be passed along to the racers.

Ed, according the web site D4 are still 3 day with the exception of the double in Dallas.

Dave, Apparently the spring race is a 3 day event. T&T is a track event on Thursday.

So, those fairly new to this, you can be sure Stock will be first or second out of the box on opening day morning. If you care to get this early run for qualifying or early morning data, then you want to get to these Divisionals at least by noon the day before.
That way , you can get all tech-ed in, weigh your car, check your fuel, etc. and be ready to go on opening morning.

Re: Divisionals/regionals

Thanks, Mark, I guess they ran the fall race as four days for some reason. I'll probably have to arrive mid-afternoon Thursday anyway to accommodate my son's work schedule, but at least I'll be teched in before Friday.

Greg

Maybe we changed back. Guess I should have looked at this year's schedule before posting that. Sorry.
