Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
At the 4 wide in LV will they be running 4 wide in stock? If so there will be more breakouts then usual. And if so how will it work like the Pro classes the first 2 move on? Or will only the Pro classes run 4 wide.

Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
They only run the pro classes 4 wide. A couple years ago they did let super comp run qualifying4 wide and it was pretty cool.

Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
Be great to see 8-A/SA or some other class of 8 to have fun on the 4-wide. Opportunity to do something different don't come often. I made some passes on the new track a couple weeks ago. When I pulled out from under the tower. It is pretty wild to see 4 lanes of concrete ahead of you. At that time we ran in 3&4 and wow are they smooth as butter. The burnout area was new too and also concrete and some cars were having trouble chattering the tires.
It does take quit a bit of work to prep 4 lanes though. The track did purchase more equipment I see to handle it. Before the track would only use the LED on National events. Not any more. All brand new. |
Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
I can't imagine NHRA getting four lanes with the same rollout. They have enough trouble with two lanes. Sure would be hard to judge the stripe from lane 1 to lane 4.

They are running class in Vegas now will they be doing that at the points meet in Vegas next week or only at the National events.

Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
No class at points races, only select Nationals and at the Sportsnationals.

Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
In my humble opinion that 4 wide B.S. is to draw in the newbies that get a warm fuzzy from sensory overload when the nitro circus lights the fuse. I enjoy watching class cars "work" during the first 60 feet. It is impossible to watch 2 cars much less 4. 4 wide is a joke. Don Jackson

It'll be quite interesting to see the difference in the track from the staging lanes, and I'm looking forward to it next week! However, I don't know why they can't try 4 wide Top Alcohol dragsters and T A Funny Cars though, since they rev up their engines like Pro Stock does????

My first drag race was Union Grove, Wisconsin....1965.... everything was 4 wide and a flagman....

Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
NY National speedway was 4 wide back in the seventies. It was strange even then.

Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
Honestly I can barely watch one car at a time. But watching and actually racing 3 other cars at the same time might be two different feelings. I live here in Vegas and the cheap seats were sold out for today. My girls were going to check it out but a little expensive to feel the earth shake.

Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
I ran in 3&4 the only time I've been out there. I swear the walls are taller and no way you can even see 1&2 from the 4th lane. They ran jr dragsters in 1&2 which in turn sped things up for the big cars.

Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
Remember seeing pics from York US 30 in early 70's, looked pretty wild.

Re: Stock eliminator at the 4 wide
US 30 ran Pro Stocks 4 wide a few times. They called it "Jungle Races". It had to be downright scary for the drivers.
The only reason they have 4 wide now is because Bruton decreed it. I remember when Vegas was originally revamped he wanted 4 wide then. |

Dan. I was there for the measurement in the morning on all 4 lanes . It was dead on! Jeff Foster and Team did a hell of a job!! I was very impressed. |
