Just thinking out loud. What if the car already was carrying this much weight? I have no knowledge of this to be true, just thinking. Congrats Mike on the performance. Can you go to say maybe F, G, or H now with new adjustment? LOL

Jeff a car can be no heavier than the minimum of the next heavier class.

Old HP 140 x20 plus 170= 2970
Or
Be as heavy as 3249 and stay in U

New HP 151 x 20 plus 170 =3190
Or
Can weigh as much as 3492 and stay in U

So he could be 3249 and make a 1.40 under pass is what I was getting at.
U=20 lb
V=22 lb

Food for thought... There is no next heavier class than U for a V8.
Just sayin.

My understanding is any V8 car that is natural U can be as heavy as you want, like Mike says no heavier class for it. BTW, congrats to the Grahams on the great performance..

I thought that at first and when I looked at indexes I changed my mind and thought it was W 4 cylinder only. Please don't tell me you were really heavy I may faint. LOL

There is a rule that limits how much weight that can be added. 500 lbs that includes permanent and removable weight. So if shipping weight of car is 3000# + 500# maximum allowable weight + 170# driver = 3670# maximum weight car can be in any class. I think this is correct.

Will the Mustang have to move up to R/SA?

Wouldn't anywhere between -1.093 and-1.199 have accomplished the same #1 position without the 11 horsepower?

Already beat to death one combo with the Maverick (according to the for sale advertisement) why do it again?

Because she can. That combo has many variables within it's engine/body style. The Graham's have run under so many times and just blast the index, I believe that they just like running fast and darn the index. A true sportsman in a performance category. Maybe Billy Nees or Mr Graham can tell us all the possible combos for just U/SA with that Ford. They can run one combo into oblivion and just change to another variable. My hats off to them. It is not their fault that NHRA has set that engine HP rating.

BJ and Mike are the top of the class. In racing and in person.

Wasn.t too much fun watching from the other lane when I had to run these let's say "factored correct" combos for class when I ran my 6 cylinder gremlin ( the bright bulbs in Glendora were kind enough to lower my HP to, get this, 155 from the original 160) . That was with a Carter BBD 2 bbl. that was more suitable to put on a lawn mower. Great fun having them pacing me the whole 1/4 mile.

I’ve had the privilege of racing with the Graham’s for the last 3 years and I must say they are definitely the nicest and hardest working people I know in stock and super stock. Congrats on winning class and qualifying # 1 in Vegas! Good luck at the division race this weekend see you guys next week!

The 76 car got hit..up to 151 hp.
The 75 is already 156 hp.
Might be a typo, but I doubt it.
