Horsepower on tuesday
As my friend Larry Hill would say, “has anyone noticed a spike in the price of lead “. LOL. ......I believe it spiked close to the Virginia track.....

Re: Horsepower on tuesday
Are both the 14 and 15 Camaros in FS/C the same combos? Also it would be mineshaft in VA, Tom

Re: Horsepower on tuesday
Looks like there was a couple more trying to get some too.
|
Re: Horsepower on tuesday
Over time All the FS are going to find lots of HP.
NHRA will eventually have to invent a new Class like AAAAAA/FS. So NHRA will have the first Stockers running in the 6 second range.:D D |
Re: Horsepower on tuesday
Guess we'll find out Tuesday if they were 427 or 396, or one of each.
|
Re: Horsepower on tuesday
Could be two different engine combos. There are 430 & 450 hp models in the guide.
|
Re: Horsepower on tuesday
Same engine combo 427/450. Damage was done in Texas on Friday.... As long as the Virginia runs on Saturday weren’t faster than the Texas runs on Friday, the Tuesday result is the same....

Re: Horsepower on tuesday
Mineshaft doesn’t negate runs 1 20 and under....
But it does take runs like -119.8 out of average. If you knew that your run does not go on your average why not see how much you got in your tank. Stock and Super Stock is still a performance based class. There is always a lot of talk of who has the fasted car on Nitro Joes pages this would be chance to get a little higher on the page. But on the down side the cars that get hit will not be happy. Tom |

Re: Horsepower on tuesday
There were 2 miradas in VA. An 81 in O/SA and the 80 in I/SA. According to the announcer, the O is a 318, the I is a 360. Just what I heard,

Re: Horsepower on tuesday
I wasn’t “trying” to get HP on the combination. I had it weighted down, timing out and other measures trying to run about 1.05-1.10 under, yes I did intend to be number one qualifier because it’s good for business. This was the 9th run ever on the car and it’s been giving us fits. It left extremely lazy and I figured no way it was going fast enough to worry. Unfortunately or fortunately, it seems maybe we fixed the problem we were having in the car and it went faster than I thought. The combination has TONS of untapped potential left so from my standpoint I’m not upset about it because I know we have more left in it, I didn’t intend to ruin it for others or anything like that, but sometimes it happens. Considering it’s been hit with 33hp before I ever touched it I’m definitely not the first one to hit it...lol

Re: Horsepower on tuesday
If it is in I/SA........The Mirada is 360 Small Cam @ 270 HP
The same engine in my Aerodynamic Aspen Wagon is 289 HP |
Re: Horsepower on tuesday
Can someone from NHRA please tell us why runs of -1.20 are not an automatic rod and piston teardown. If you single handily put power on a combination NHRA should at least take the time to check and confirm every spec on the car is correct. So far this year there have been 8 different -1.20 runs at national events and points meets and not on Rod and Piston check.

The capable people at VMP this weekend were too busy doing every thing else involved in putting on the race to tear down anything. But you're right, it should be mandatory, it affects too many other people to let slide. |
Re: Horsepower on tuesday
BS
At points meets it should be the head tech officials job to teardown and national events every time I ride by the tech trailer there’s alway 2-3 officials standing under the semi truck awning doing nothing. Especially on Thursday’s and fridays of national events. |
Re: Horsepower on tuesday
I can only speak on behalf of the Marlow '69 camaro which added hp last week. Butch was driving it this week and they did pull him over after round 1 to check the carb and look at numbers on the intake and head.
It was probably a week late, but that did happen for the interest in fair reporting. Only the carb was taken off the car. |

Re: Horsepower on tuesday
Mark for 30 plus years NHRA official's would tear down the winner and runner up at each race. So theirs tons of time after the race to teardown cars if time/man power during the race is a issue. Mark I do agree there are quite a few tech guys at the div level that bust there butts all weekend long.
