"Live" from D3 Columbus LODRS
 

The 2018 D3 season opener is finally here. I know lots of us D3, D5 and D1 racers feel something's out of wack by not heading to Indy this weekend, but I'm looking forward to starting things off at National Trail Raceway. The weather looks like it will be just fine this weekend - the only significant forecast for rain is today that may interrupt the Test and Tune. I'll be back with a report from the track in the early afternoon.

We have been pretty lucky so far with the test and tune session and made it to 130 before and very light rain hits the track. It’s really windy with the wind coming out of the south west between 10 and 15 miles an hour. It looks like the rain may be moving around us and I would think that we would get back to testing tune shortly. Tech has started. The pits are filling up pretty good.

We finished the Test and Tune with no more interruptions. Track conditions were good. I was easily able to get 6 runs in. Tech is open till 6:00.

Good morning. Let’s start first with a weather report there is a full cloud cover .....but it’s a high cloud cover. As I rolled in the track this morning about 8 o’clock there was a very brief rainshower sit at everyone scrambling to get their cars back in the trailers. And no sooner then all the trailers we’re back inside the rain showers stopped.

Here’s the forecast for the day and it shows a risk of showers later in the day .....we should be on track for a 9 AM start and I’ll be back during the day with updates.

We made it until almost 3:00 before the first weather time - out. Like yesterday it’s just a few sprinkles that dry quickly with this blustery wind. The total duration of this weather time out looks like it will only be about 15 minutes.

Both round one and two of qualifying for stock and superstock are complete. Both rounds for all the categories have been uneventful this morning and this afternoon we’ll see how things progress once the crazy fast stuff it’s the track here shortly

Good morning. A big weather change this morning. The cold front hit here about 5:00 yesterday afternoon and dropped the temperatures from the 80s to the 60s. This morning the wind is gone and temps are in the high 50s. Stock is in the lanes for Q3.

I bought my First Pontiac Super Stocker from Bob in the late 70s,have not been the sane since LOL Bob we have gotten a little older since then huh,

A weather update at 3:45 Saturday afternoon just as Stock round 1 was called to the lanes the dark clouds that had been sliding past the track on the southside finally started to drop a slow drizzle that ihas stopped racing action.

The Datk Skyes app says the light rain will only last 35 morning minutes.

Before this rain delay we were about 2 half hours behind schedule .

5:45 update - the 3:45 light drizzle turned into a small shower and as of 5:45 the rain has stopped .....but as I’m writing this I see drops starting to reappear on the windshield.

S/ST is about 1/2 done and Stock would be up next.

I got back from Columbus and I have to say I’ve never seen the track there as good as it was this weekend. The chief reporter busted my one and only son’s butt with a 9 thou package in the 3rd round today. Yep, Mike was .005 dead on 4!

Hey Bob --- Wow ! That's impressive ! Congratulations on getting the new Cat flying .------- Now that you sent the Le Mans down to Dave that junkie old Grand Prix must be just sitting in a field some place. Mark----Never got a call ? Unless you junked it you still have it. Pile all of your wife's flower pots out of it and send it to me. I'll stick a window rattling 455 in it put some Cragers on it and hit the local cruise ins. Does it have air ? :)
