Obviously not there but here's your place for anecdotes, facts, BS, etc.

Beautiful morning here today , going up to mid 80's today and yesterdays rain is gone. Tech is in process and lots of rigs rolling in. I saw Tim Gray this morning , so i expect he will take some pics. Rob from D1tv is here also. Stay tuned , should be a great weekend

Re: Lebanon Valley

Rd1 of stock qualifying is in the books , 80 degrees and 68 percent , baro 29.14 on my gauge which was a tenth or so higher than Numidia. Ss is in the lanes slight headwind.

Re: Lebanon Valley

235 pm and q2 in stock is in the books , 87 degrees and 38 percent , baro dropped a smidge. I ran the same as q1

Dave Casey 06-30-2018 10:03 AM

Re: Lebanon Valley

Q3 is done , most picked up .004 to a tenth or more. It was cooler, as we ran earlier, and no headwind. Seems like the B/SA nationals , 5 were in the top 10 before q3. Barry Parker debuted his b/sa. It is the former Austin Weidhas 70 camaro which has a fresh Tilburg motor and the car spent time down at Markow race cars shop this off season

A good deal of incredibly poor 60' times are evident.

Track starting line issues?

Anyone else having D1TV issues? Sound (mic) has been bad all the way and today Live Streaming goes "offline" quite a bit. Refresh doesn't always help.

Announcers have been garbled with no volume. It's been offline for a while now. I'm not complaining, though. It's still better than nothing...

Yes, especially sound. Can't understand announcer even at full volume.

Paradigm Shift 06-30-2018 02:48 PM

Re: Lebanon Valley

It's been quite poor from the outset. The starting line angle isn't too bad.

No point in listening to the broadcast. The reflections of staff members in the tower are interesting.

Quite possibly it's the people in Finland that specialize in the high quality broadcast of drag racing events. I enjoyed that video stream a great deal.

I'm not at Lebanon, but heard they are done for the day. A Funny car hit the wall right before the stripe, and it hit pretty hard taking out the timing system. I saw the crash on the D1TV, it looked bad. The driver is said to be alive, but no word on his condition.

D1TV is back up as of 15:26 hrs. Announced that racing will resume tomorrow, Sunday, @ 0830 with Junior Dragsters.

Everyone have a safe evening.

I had given up by then, went back and looked. DJ Cox in right lane took a hard right at approx. 3/4 track and went right into and over the wall. Didn't look like any fire, down in a gully. Hope he's alright!

Alan Reinhart is announcing at this event and stated the DJ Cox was alright but was being taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

DJ Cox was complaining of back pain, and like jayork1331 said he was taking to the hospital for further evaluation. Just watching that video makes you cringe, glad to here he was up and talking.

Thanks to Kalyn Guenther for the photos of Stock and Super Stock today.

Good news on DJ Cox. He checks out okay, just some soreness and back pain, he should be out of the hospital tomorrow.

No final qualifying sheets or 1st round elimination sheets posted anywhere? NHRA staff must be too busy to take care of this.

Re: Lebanon Valley

They ran r1 of stock and then the alcohol cars. After the accident they announced that the accident caused wiring damage and that needed to be repaired. That ended the days racing as they can only run to maybe 6 pm because of the dirt oval track which runs sat night. They will probably start at 8 this morning. It is very hot and humid and will be more so today. The starting line held up ok considering the temp and full sun. I got beat in r1 and left around 5. Good luck to all

First round of Stock the P/SA car had better 60' than two of the three AA/SA cars.

"Wonder" what was the cause of the 60' being so slow?

Larry
Track temp was approaching 135 degrees and there were bald spots. A lot of high horsepower stockers had trouble first round. I think all tracks should learn for the Bowling Green starting line crew.

Typical Lebanon Valley. If you go up in the tower and complain they’ll tell you it is what it is. It’s been this way for many many years. Either move the race to when the temperatures are more favorable or cancel it all together. The return road is most unsafe of any drag strip in the country and you also have to contend with the circle track on Saturday’s. Just imagine if the TAFC hopped the guardrail on the left side of the track. Factor in the dust bowl parking situation and the flaky timing system. Drop it from the schedule all together. This track is a dump

just watched Jeff Tripp, then Jeff Roell blow the tires off in the right lane.
yesterday it seemed like the left side was bad for Super Stockers.
its a shame.

Dave everyone has a right to there opinion. Personally I've been racing at the Valley since the mid 70's . Sure not perfect but our association ASRA has 3 races a year there and I believe as many other of our members the Valley does a pretty dam good job ! Not perfect but the crew sure does try. Maybe moving the date , but they all can't be spring and fall. Sorry but my 2 cents.

Mark from what I hear the ASRA races are well run and traction isn’t an issue so perhaps it isnt the track or staff. You must admit when the divisional is in town it’s a totally different deal with the shear amount of cars hitting the same spot on the starting line in the heat of the summer when then sun is shining it’s brightest. For whatever reason, track, staff, climate, date, volume of cars, etc this race presents the same problems year after year. Maybe moving the date is the best option. Current course and speed isnt working.
