"Live" from Bowling Green Div.3 divisional 2018
 

Well we are not there yet, but I thought I would get the ball rolling and let you know what little I know about what's happening there!! This past weekend was a double combo on Saturday and Sunday. Winner on Sat was Nick Morris with Bub Wells running it up. If anybody knows TC and Donna Morris, she had posted on Facebook that yesterday was their 40th wedding anniversary and it would be nice to have a Winners Circle picture to have to remember it by! And it happened! TC won over Nick Morris on Sunday!! And they got a Wally too!!

We had some "way out of town" visitors for the race this weekend. From California were Jerry and Nanette Stein and Randy Loge! They have a headstart on the race for this weekend and Indy. It was great to see them again!

And now for the stacking situation!! As we left last night about dark, #1 in line was Jimmy Gower with a dropped trailer behind him that was Don Kennedy's. I think it is great that Beech Bend is allowing anyone to start stacking since people will be coming from Cecil Co. and Brainerd and won't have to look for a place to stay for a couple of days until they could get in. Of course, anyone could stay at the Campground at Beech Bend also!! The schedule calls for parking to begin on Wed at noon!

We look forward to seeing everyone when we get back there on Wed. In the meantime, y'all feel free to post and let us know what is happening!!

We arrived about 1 and there was nobody in line! Still lots of good parking left! We are over facing the river at about where the fence ends for staging! Great spot! Most everyone was able to park where they wanted. All the pavement is not saved for TD or TS. Every class was first come, first served! That was pleasant to see! Lots of out of towners here. The Steins and Randy Loge are here and a bunch more Loges are on their way! Also Bill Bagley, Larry Gilley, Scot Gove, Jim Boudreau, Harper, Matt, and Steve Welker, Eugene Monahan, Adam Strang, Bob Moran!!

We have test and tune tomorrow starting at noon. Quik Fuel is sponsoring dinner for all racers tomorrow night!

So everyone come and join us for a great weekend of racin!!

I don't think D3 TV is running yet!

Test and tune is in full blast! Spun first run but they have been working on track and second run was better!

Tech is going on too in the staging lanes.

I took a few pictures so I will test to see if my new computer is doing ok!

It is a gorgeous morning here at Beech Bend! Super Street has been called up and it is 69 degrees! Looking for some fast runs today as lots of people are on their way to Indy! I look for there to be well over 100 stockers here and probably just about as many super stockers!

That place looks really nice. I haven't been there in a really long time. I have to put that on my bucket list for the future. My ride is not fast enough for Indy. Good luck to all that are there racing and have a fun and safe time. Wheels Up!!

In an effort to reduce the impact on racers advancing through the semis this weekend (Aug 24-26) in Bowling Green, KY for the Division 3 Lucas Oil Regional event, a list of the four finalists names in each category will be forwarded to a NHRA official on site at Lucas Oil Raceway. Coordinating with the Lucas Oil Raceway security, the participants (only the participants – NO team mates) on the list will then be lead to a specific stacking area aside the normal Sportsman stacking.

First round of qualifying is in the books! By my count, 115 stockers went down and 1 was pushed off the line! I know at least 2 more did not go down. I am sure y’all are watching on D3 TV this morning! By our guages it was 78 with AA at 1282’.

Not True... Only the top 128 qualifiers make it to the ladder for first round at a divisional. We routinely had more than 128 at the old Quaker City races in D3 and Englishtown in D1.

It's seems strange but someone will not qualify if there are more than 128.

Breakage will probably get them back in the field anyway.

That's what I understood it to be fastest 128 qualifiers and maybe then alternates if there any for the first round

One year Maple Grove Divisional had well over 128 cars as well as the other tracks you
mentioned Tom.

Maple Grove /Division race around 2006 or 2007 .... 155 Stockers paid to race...

128 did

I did not make any big effort to go as fast as I could and wound up around 110th........about .65 under

I had no idea that many cars were there and luckily made it in..

I have not been to Bowling Green for several years. But I have been here about 6 or 7 times in the past before Indy. This is the best air I have seen here and from others this is as good as it gets for this time of year. Even though it's good for here for the time of year it's not real fast by any means. The sad part to me as I watch the cars go down a good amount are letting off early not to go 1 sec. under. Several racers including myself and my brother are running heavy with extra oil and timing out to not run more then 1 sec under. I thought this was a performance class. I ran a D/SA Corvette my second pass today. He went 108 miles per hour while I went 106 in B/SA. Maybe it's time to look at moving the average to 1 sec under in a combo to get hp. So all you guys that don't want to work on your combo or spend some money on it to go faster flame away. I'm happy to be sitting here surrounded by a bunch of people that still like to make their cars go fast. BP
