NMCA - Norwalk - Testing

3 Attachment(s)
For some who may not know, The NMCA All-American Nationals at the Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk is having the 50th Cobra Jet reunion along with The Factory Super Cars, (same as the NHRA Factory Stock Showdown) and Stock and Super Stock this week. The place is packed and it looks to be a great race.

I was told there are close to a 170 Cobra Jets here, old and new. Over 70 of them are show cars and the rest are race cars. There are over 20 original 68 Cobra Jet race cars here as well.

My old race car showed up, first photo. Jim Morgan purchased it a few years ago and decided to bring to the 50th Cobra Jet reunion, it was nice to see it again.

2nd photo is Chris Holbrook's new ride, 2016 Cobra Jet. Super Cars were here testing getting ready for there Sunday show and Indy. The best run today was by Turk, I believe an 8.08.

Last photo was Gary Richard's time slip from his 69 B/SA Camaro. The DA was about 2600ft today. He was testing getting ready for Indy. I will have more photos for you Ford guys from the Cobra Jet reunion tomorrow.

uh oh, was I not supposed to post it. It was on your bench, I was helping myself to a snack in the trailer like I always do when visiting you guys and saw the time slip. After all, you left it out and I am a so called reporter, just doing my job.

I hate to see you guys let someone go because of me.

I'm no Stock insider, but I was surprised to see that a quick B-car was only 1.42 to 60'.

My 10.30 bracket car does that with a 1.80 glide and 4.30 rear gear.

Hey all, I could not get info and photos like I wanted to. I have issues with my car and I'm trying to get it fix. I did get one shot of what looks like a division 7 race. Its nice to see the west coast guys out here. No Factory Showdown cars broke 7 seconds today in qualifying, maybe tomorrow.

I will post some photos between now and Indy. Evan Smith is here covering this race and he has some great shots that I can post for everyone. I will be at Indy covering the race even If I can not get my car fixed. I have media credentials and will cover the race.

Evan Smith sent me some photos of Stock and Super Stock. For some who do not know NMCA has a Stock Super Stock Combo. For anyone close to a NMCA event you should give it a shot. If felt like a NHRA race, it was packed with cars, I would say 400 plus easy. Although most of the cars are dedicated NMCA classes, there were about 120 NHRA class cars here. That would included the old and new Cobra Jets and the Factory Stock Showdown cars. When you see 600 plus cars at Bowling Green along with all the racing going on in the country, it confirms that drag racing is a live and well with lots of options.

I was very impressed with the turnout for the 50th anniversary Cobra Jet. We had 40 plus old CJ's competing and 40 plus new CJ's competing with over 70 show car CJ's. It was a great show and I have to thank Steve Wolcott president of NMCA and the entire staff for putting on a great show. Along with the Bader's you could not ask for a better run race.

Mike Pustelny of the world famous MPR chassis shop picked up all the marbles at the Cobra Jet 50th Anniversary event. He took out everybody in the Modern Cobra Jet Class and then went on to win the old vs. new Cobra Jet Class. Of course with the help of his friend and engine builder Jim Ronzello.
