The track is looking at doing a series of these races next year, so come out and support this one! With Roxboro, Piedmont, and now Pageland putting on these events, things are looking very good for S/SS racers in the Carolinas!

Pageland is a hard-working little facility, with great traction, great food, and friendly staff. I had a blast racing with them all year. Traction? My 60's generally move .004 there, lane to lane, day to night. Myron Piatek R/U'd there while printing timeslips the one time he came, and Mike Mayhew blew the rearend out in the semis of his visit. Should be a good one!

Hey Michael,
How about some directions? What Highway or what big city is it close to? I'm 1 1/2 hours from Mooresville and 3 hours from Darlington, but I don't know where Pageland, SC is located. Columbus, NC is the first exit in NC on Interstate 26 and I live just off of NC Hwy. 9. I'm interested.

Pageland is right off US151 - the same road that Darlington is on. For you, I don't know if it'd be better to just run 9 the whole way, or if you'd want to run 74 all the way to Monroe, and hit 601S, which turns into 151.

The track is a mile or two past that address, but Mapquest doesn't recognize their physical address for some reason.

S/SS Combo is this weekend! Drag a couple of buddies with you. If we have a good turnout, Pageland has expressed an interest in doing several races next year.

I hope everyone will try to support this track. It's a great place to race. Great owners/operators !
The spectators are very appreciative of the cars. Very vocal and enthusiastic.
The track hooks great ! It would be great to have a track that would have several S/SS combos next year.

I keep wondering why a S/SS series here in the southeast wouldn't work. Such as like the Super Gas Association down here. I think they have about 5 or 6 or so races a year. A points fund. And etc.
Some radio and paper advertising, a credible entry fee and WaLa we have a series.

How bout the weather for the weekend Michael B. We've had 2 straight days of nonstop rain, and at least 2 more coming here in Sav. I'm gettin behind in work cause of it but am still going to try to make it.

Just got the word that Stagin' Steve LeTempt will be in the house to announce the S/SS Combo, which will be great as he knows everyone. He'll also be doing interviews for his internet radio show on www.realracinusa.com, which will air the following Wednesday at 8pm.

Mike Petrie rattled off a half-dozen or so folks coming from his neck of the woods. What about some of the NC crowd? Chip? Herb? Macy?

It's actually a pretty easy jaunt. I made it from Piedmont to Pageland in 2 hrs, taking I-85 most of the way. If you're in the Asheboro area, I found that I could take a bunch of mileage off by going through Biscoe and Troy, and picking up 109 South.

Thanks Mike Mayhew for the kind words in your earlier post. I wanted to stop by and welcome all the class racers to Pageland Dragway. We're looking forward to hosting our first SS/S Combo this weekend. I can't thank Michael Beard and Mike Petree enough for putting this race together. We are a door car track and the fans and spectators here at Pageland love and appreciate these type cars. I would love to work with the class racing community to bring Class racing to Pageland Dragway once a month in 2008. We want to work with *YOU* the racers to put together a program that you'll support while helping us grow our program in the process. We have an open ear policy here and want to work together as a team to give you something you can be proud to call your own.

Here we go, a good track that will work with us. I'd like to find out how many S/SS racers live within say 4 hours of Pageland. Michael B., I bet you know. Maybe coordinate a schedule for next year.
Once a month might be hard to do with everyone traveling to NHRA/IHRA races. But with costs going up, maybe a neat series to stay closer home for ?

Mark, if I had that over the wall crew here at the house.............I'd never leave !!!!! :)

Roxboro does them monthly Apr-Nov, 2nd Saturday of the month, and Piedmont starting running them on Sundays the day after each. McCandless said he already has sponsors lined up for a great points fund for next year at Piedmont. Those combos typically draw 20-24 cars, that I've seen.

With Pageland added to the mix for next year, offering something for the racers a little further south, it should be a great year for regional class racing!

Jamie - y'all might want to put some more weight on the nose... my Volare doesn't hardly do wheelies to speak of, anywhere but Pageland!

No Thanks, there is a sign just past the head of the staging lanes and before the water box that says "clean your tires". Well if the car ahead of you does just that all the rocks come flying off their tires at the front of your car, I have enough chips in my hood from my last time there.

I raced there all year long, and have not had that problem. You'll be racing with other S/SS cars, who I'm sure will be cognizant of where and how they clean their tires. You can also leave a little room in front of your car at the head of the staging lanes.

I can't make it today. Thought this might happen this weekend. After 3 straight days of rain here I have an emergency job that's gotta be done today. I either get a house off a lot today or a nasty land owner takes this widows home away with a writ.

Made it to the finals of the Mickey Thompson/Staging Light Graphics Ironman Club shootout, too, but took a nap. Congrats to Pageland's Ironman Club winners, Trevor Jenkins (Jr. Dragster), Brian Hicks (Top), and Chad Williams (Footbrake).

Nine raced. A tenth was on-hand but broke before time trials.

Lee - everything ok? Thought you'd be at the track before I would. We missed you!

Chip was running behind and couldn't get there in time, so he opted for Dunn-Benson.

Thanks to the Pageland crew for giving us a showcase and a great place to race. Hopefully we can hold some more next year, and draw some more cars.

Good Job Duckboy.

Sorry I could'nt make it. We got the car back together late Saturday. We never would've made it to JP in time, so headed to DB instead. We ended up winning dash for cash and getting R/U in the race.

We missed out on some good shows at JP this year. Hopefully we will have our program in better shape next year and compete in some of their races.

Stagin' Steve Letempt will be covering this event on his internet radio show on www.realracinusa.com, which will air on Wednesday at 8pm.
