Pomona Run Schedule

Interesting run schedule. All sportsman classes except TD and TS (who still get all their 3 qualifying runs) get 2 hits Thursday morning and one round of eliminations Thursday afternoon. Could be a short Winternationals.

Interesting schedule. Is this a first for round one of stock (and others) on Thursday??

Re: Pomona Run Schedule

Maybe they set the schedule because of all the rain. I am about 5 miles from the track and it is raining here now. It has been raining for a week. Supposed to clear up for Wednesday and Thursday and then rain again Friday and Saturday.
Temps are supposed to be in the mid to low 50"s if it is not raining it will be real fast. Many years ago I remember it taking 3 weeks to get the race in, it even snowed one year.
I am planing on spectating Wednesday and Thursday.

If you look at the schedule for the Gatornationals, it appears that there will be sportsman eliminations on Thursday as well.

Wow, if I didn’t know better....seems as though the schedule gets more Sportsman UNFRIENDLY every year.......

Re: Pomona Run Schedule

The weather could be a very valid reason at Pomona, or is it to fit in the Match Race between the 55 Chevys??

I also checked the Gators schedule and could be because of all the 50th anniversary activities they had to make changes. Just guessing.

I went over the run schedule and hit up the entry lists to see who from up here is down there. Usual suspects. There is a Ford entered in ProStock. Jeff Isbell is the name. Find him on FB if you are interested.

I really am beginning to question my sanity. I pour all kinds of money into a race car to race for a sanctioning body that clearly doesn't want me there.

Kinda funny, kinda sad, about 10-15 yrs ago we attended the Dallas race, similar schedule, so it has been done before. Anyway wifey wants to visit kids in KCMO, but headed to billyplex anyway, lost first rd Thurs, had to dodge fans arriving, deadheaded home (11 Hrs), went to KCMO anyway

I had a comment until I saw Mr. Gray's Post. I can't improve on that.

Don't get me started on how many trailers the PROS have. Plus all their hospitality areas.

If they engraved an oval on the end instead of a bowtie would anyone know the difference?

Worst idea NHRA has come up with in quite some time....and they come up with some doozies!!! Once again losing the heart and soul of drag racing!! Sad!

Re: Pomona Run Schedule

With NHRA regularly taking 50ish cars in each class I thought maybe they would get rid of Thursday altogether and just run national events on Friday-Sunday. Now we're running Thursday evening eliminations? They don't even broadcast the all access video on Thursday and I would have thought a majority of the subscribers are sportsman racers trying to watch sportsman racing. Is anyone live on facebook today? Do they still broadcast audio?

Wow! Half of the stock and super stock folks will be going home after tonight. This is a brutal schedule.

Wow, brutal schedule. I thought about flying in to spectate, but after
looking at the weather forecast, airfare, rental car and motel costs
made more sense to just stay home and shovel the snow and watch TV.

Think it had a lot to do with the forecast for this weekend.
