Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
I've never seen them before nor do I want to. If this is the case they have just pounded the first nail. Hope our sportsman reps can fill us in on this. Barry

Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
Wow! (...and pure stock too!)
|
Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
I would guess that's for the 1/8 mile open series in Div. II. No need to panic yet.
|
Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
Yep, that's just a D2 thing for opens.
|
Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
Where could we find rules and engine specs.?
|
Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
Larry, all of that is still on IHRA’s website, linked below. Also Danny Waters will be one of D2 techs at the Baby Gators, he’d be a good one to ask. Another super guy who may have more insight is Jim Woods.

Including Pure Stock...:) Still get emails clarifying a rule or combination. Hoping one day to see them implemented for all the Opens.. IHRA Classes will add to the car count and revenue. D |
Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
Maybe if NHRA moved them to the Exhibition section among the Jets, Rockets and Wheelstanders people will be happy.

Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
I say bring on the crate motors! It is no different then GT or FGT.

Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
Now that the "damage is done" 1. do the crate motors keep their IHRA indexes that are slower ? 2 . What if the massive influx of crate motor stockers repositions you on the ladder making it harder to avoid a "heads up" 3. if they keep their IHRA indexes they may be #1 qualifiers more easily !! Time to let the Kelvinators get their cams back and the mopars their intakes , and get out your 85b to mill off your intake flanges on the aftermarket heads to be legal CC!!

Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
1. Do the crate motors keep their IHRA indexes that are slower? Why not and see how they run. If they run 1.2 under they would get the same hit we all do.
2 . What if the massive influx of crate motor stockers repositions you on the ladder making it harder to avoid a "heads up". Not sure how this will change the ladder if crate motors run or not. 3.If they keep their IHRA indexes they may be #1 qualifiers more easily!! Same as number 1 they would get the horsepower adjustment. |
Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
The CM ‘s are racing at OPENS, It doesn’t matter where anyone qualifies....first rd. is random pairing...If they go more than 1.2 under they will NOT receive HP, it is an OPEN.....

Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
Hello All.
I do not have a horse in this race. Both my Corvette's are in SS. but that's another whole mess. Anyway, I'm slightly confused here, I hear guys complaining there is not enough heads up action. Now I'm hearing what if the Crate motor guys reposition us on the ladder causing more heads up! So, I guess the fast guys want heads up, and the slower guys do not want Heads ups. This is a 2 way street, there is room for Crate motor cars at all the divisional. Super Stock has GT!!! Welcome more racers to play, or 10 years from now there may not be anybody to play. Just my pennies worth. Cal SST/1177 SS/177 |

Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
I agree with you Marvin Strickland. I too enjoyed the NHRA Division 2 National Open Series in my crate motor Camaro. (GCM 350/330 hp) I'm just a racer with a modest income, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to participate at nice facilities in Stock Eliminator.

Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
crate motor and pure stock rules and indexes are allowed in NMRA and NMCA competition for their stock superstock combo class.Again it is put into place to attract more drivers to events. There is only a handful or less of those cars still out there in competitive trim.I ran F and G crate motor for several years in two different cars. Those days are gone as well as most of the purpose built crate motor cars. Some of us build cars to take advantage of racing at multiple events under multiple sanctioning bodies. There is no threat from these cars at Opens. If its on the books, let them run their cm and pure stock setup. My current ride fits D/Pure Stock, Super Stang, Sportsman footbrake and eventually with the right amount of funds,H/SA.

Still PS and have not moved up to Full Stock. Raced at VMP Carolina Class Racers Meet. It was so cool to see old friends. Third of the cars (25) were CM and my PS...so we are all out there. I would like to be invited to the Opens. The Association races, NMRA and NMCA welcome all. I would accept the Indexes being lowered 3 tenths and use race gas. If IHRA, NHRA and AHRA were smart. They should work with these Associations. Make them part of the Points Chase. NHRA could repurpose HP ratings fitting CM and PS in the current A-Z class structure. My F/PS would run P, Q, R/SA. It would create more options for later model cars to run N/SA or lower classes. D |
Re: Crate Motors in Stock Eliminator
I would love to run my 95 Mustang Pure Stocker at the NMCA events but because I like to enter 2 classes at the same event the only other category besides S3 that I could run in is Open Comp.
My weak little 14 second Pure Stocker does not like .500 Pro Tree starts :( |
