Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
From the NHRA tech department.....
NHRA Technical Department Makes Parity Adjustment to the SAMTech.edu NHRA Factory Stock Showdown Based on SAMTech.edu NHRA Factory Stock Showdown performance numbers from the first race of the 2019 season, the NHRA Technical Department is increasing the supercharger top pulley size on the 2019 COPO 350 combination from 3.350 inches to 3.500 inches and the 2019 Cobra Jet 327 combination from 3.250 inches to 3.500 inches. This will decrease the 2019 COPO 350 combination supercharger overdrive from 147.5 percent to 136.6 percent overdrive or 10.9 percent. Additionally, this will decrease the 2019 Cobra Jet 327 combination supercharger overdrive from 146.2 percent to 128.6 percent or 17.6 percent. As a reminder, no other changes may be made to all approved superchargers, including, but not limited to: (upper or lower pulley sizes, gear ratios, cases, rotors, etc.). All other permitted combinations in the SAMTech.edu NHRA Factory Stock Showdown will remain unchanged. This rule change will go into effect immediately. NHRA reserves the right in the future to make additional rule changes to control performance and maintain parity in the category. |
Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
That didn't take long.

Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
About how much will they slow down?
|
Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
Take off the weight from the DragPaks!
|
Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
They all weigh the same.

Doing it quickly will keep interest in class. Also, changing pulley size is probably least expensive thing to change. Will they have to do a lot of testing, sure, but what top teams are not doing a lot of testing. Class has basically become Prostock version 2.0 18 wheelers hauling stockers around. |
Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
The big Question becomes who's Sandbaging when and where?

Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
Just curious, NHRA slowed down the Chevy's but did nothing to the drag paks (Leah Pritchard) who out-qualified the Chevy's. Just wondering why?

Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
Put the darn things in COMP where they belong !!!! JMHO...…..

Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
I would be willing to bet that NONE of the fast cars were torn down and certified as being legal either !
|
Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
You would lose on that bet. On Wednesday before the race David Barton's car was torn down and fully checked by Pat and another tech guy.
(Whose name escapes me) He passed and was certified to race. Just to set the record straight. Quote:

It's funny, but all the people on here who are commenting and giving competition suggestions not one person participates or has anything to do with the class. I'm not even sure who races on this thread. |
Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
This class is extremely enjoyable to watch it reminds me of the early pro stock wars, hopefully it’s not destroyed by MFG and big money agendas.

Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
NHRA actually did a really good job at the Gators. Pat came around every Qual as well as round 1 and round 2, They took racepack info, checked pulley size as well as some other creative things that i was happy to see him look at. We thanked him for being on top of us and i think they genuinely want to keep us in line.

Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
why not just a spec sealed blower and everyone on same pulleys and let the rest of the cards fall where they may. Think Nascar tries to make everyone run the same and that hasn't seem to work for them.

Like “a part” flew out of your oil pan? Thanks for the correction. Have to keep the grammar straight. |

Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
The “spec blower” issue needs to die. Nothing else about those three combinations is the same so why do some of you actually believe that’s going to help anything?

Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
This will never be "fair" to all involved no matter how smart they are or how much money they have . Look at the pro classes . The nitro cars have pretty much the same engine platform as everyone else in their class, and at any given time one of the less than mega dollar teams can step up and outrun the big guys !! Pro Stock and the defunct Pro Stock Truck had an engine platform from each of the manufacturers . The GM engines dominated those classes and I'm not so sure it was a lack of trying on the other racers part .

[QUOTE=Todd Hoven;585561]You would loose on that bet.
(Who's name escapes me) .....In this particular sentence, Whose would be the correct word....Carry on..... |

Spyphish has us on a grammar kick...life is indeed stranger than fiction.

Re: Adjustment - Factory Stock Showdown
The real problem comes when NHRA try's to level the playing field between 2 valve pushrod and 4 cam 4 valve engines!
