I do wish they would reschedule to a nicer weekend

Re: Columbus Points Meet

Not going to reschedule. Running as planned; schedule will be compressed if needed to hit a Sunday finish. Also, final Jeg's All-Stars points event which has to be considered.

Re: Columbus Points Meet

Well, I hate to say this but I guess that I won't be seeing my D-3 Brethren this weekend. I'm not going to drive 300+ miles to watch it rain. Not to mention, maybe get 1Q run and OBTW, Natl.Trails isn't the nicest track to be at when the weather is wet.

I want to go but this sucks.

Re: Columbus Points Meet

With Memphis, Atlanta, Atco and Columbus all facing weather challenges guess a guy would have to go all the way to Boise to race!

We are planning on going and hoping for enough dry periods to get the race in.

Re: Columbus Points Meet

Yea Columbus forecast is showing over an inch of rain for Thursday-Saturday combined (at this time). Plus what they get tonight. Good call
this race sounds like Indy pts two years ago, one pass set around for two days then everyone go home Sunday because the suns out and water is coming through the track. Good luck to those going. Hope everyone Monday schedule is free

Sounds like staying home is good

Re: Columbus Points Meet

These situations are "no win" for everyone and the only person to blame is mother nature. If I was a D3 racer I would make my best effort to attend for mainly 2 reasons,

1. sounds like the race will be run somehow this weekend and when you are holding the Wally, all will be forgotten about how the race was run. There will be a winner.

2. I believe you have a new owner/operator in Jay Livingston, supporting his efforts would be good for the sport, division and racers in the short and long run.

Re: Columbus Points Meet

It's been raining there now for some time. The ground should be saturated. Like Charlie stated once the sun comes out the water will start coming up through the track. I guess if I were in a position to win a Jegs series I would go. Good luck to all that plan to attend.

Re: Columbus Points Meet

Will they run on Monday for sure? Why wont Div 3 announce anything?

Re: Columbus Points Meet

It's been raining all morning with no end in sight. Clouds are low and dark, dew point and temp are only a few degrees apart. It's not looking good.

Same conditions as the Indy points meet use to have that I use to sit in.

Weather update: Persistent rain has forced us to cancel Day 1 of the NHRA Buckeye Nationals here at National Trail Raceway. We will resume tomorrow beginning at 9 AM (weather permitting). For more details please check the NHRA North Central Division 3 Facebook page. Please tune in tomorrow for all the action on dragracer.tv.

Re: Columbus Points Meet

I don't post that much on this site anymore, but I'll post this time.

Hats off to every racer that came to this race and hats off to the staff at trails and div 3 as its mother natures fault for what we have had to put up with. I'm not putting anybody down for not coming, i look at it this way, nobody twisted your arm to come or not to come. I knew the weather forecast like many others did, not worth grumbling over it if you stayed home, that was your choice. Everybody will get one shot at the track Sunday and they will move into eliminations till its not fit to run after dark, then go into Monday racing. Good luck to everybody here at Columbus.

Re: Columbus Points Meet

Joe, I think when you mention National Trail and the possibility of a few days of rain, a lot of racers have visions of trailers with water running through them.I know things have changed there, but some tracks don't handle rain well. The fields look to be about half of what a normal opening points race has.Could the pits handle 200 hundred or more rigs?

I can't find any proof that this event actually happened, other than the D3TV feed.

Warren Evans 05-07-2019 11:33 AM

Re: Columbus Points Meet

Oh, it happened all right....

The live timing connection was down for the weekend so there were no real-time updates to NHRA's live timing page. (That has been broken for awhile and the new owners were not aware that it needed fixing) Then, to compound the problem, the primary computer failed overnight on Sunday, forcing the track to move to a backup system on Monday. The tower staff was rebuilding the data from log sheet printouts and manually entering data as we were running eliminations. I know there was some cleanup to take care of before the results would be posted to the internet.

Hope that helps clear that up a bit. And, thanks for watching!

Warren

Thanks for clearing it up, Warren!

It's rare in this day and age that you can't get online the day following an event and get the full scoop!
