"Live From" Maple Grove Raceway LODRS
 

Hello all, we arrived this afternoon, and I swear I thought I was at a national event. There were a 100 plus rigs in the stacking area, and its only Wednesday. Looks like we will have a good turnout this week. The weather looks good Friday through Sunday with a slight chance of rain on Saturday.

Tomorrow we have a test session, but there is a good chance of rain, I hope there are wrong as this is the first race of the year for many D1 racers.

I only found a few cars out, but I did find many in the trailers with the back door open, not very exciting, but still cool.

Yo Ken. Seeing cars in trailers is just shy of seeing them outside. It lets us know who is there. So thanks for those pics. BTW: what you said about winning the round in Richmond against Ally shows you're a Top notch
guy and a "Class Act". Those types of comments brings respect to you.

Good morning members and guests - For once I have good news here from Maple Grove -the storms that were to hit this morning never did and the Sun is out.So if your on the fence as they say just saddle up and get moving .Racers here are unloading already and heading to tech even though the test n tune isn't starting till 11 .

Classracer will let you know if any of this changes.

Pssst - I'll be right with you - after I get my foot out of my mouth .Once again I tried to be the weatherman and it bit me .There is a slight drizzle happening at this moment with the Sun peaking out at places .I gotta give up trying …...stay tuned .

OK, OK -So it rained for a lousy ten minutes- give me back my Boy Scout weathermans badge . Sun is back out again ( but there is some cloud cover ) and the 11 o'clock start could still happen .Tech is open with no big lines so far .

Testing is almost over for today. I did not get a chance shoot the starting line, I had to work on my car. We had some short rain delays, but the front has now moved through.

The next set of photos is what I believe is the first 2019 production Cobra Jet to hit the track. There are many racing today, but they are updated 16's. This one is driven by Jonathan Allegrucci.

I believe Drew Skillman's & Geoff Turk's are '19s even though they weren't built to total running completion at Watson. Geoff's is #15, not sure about Drew's. Very cool to see one delivered complete by Watson at the track. Do you happen to know the number for this one?

I know those cars very well and they are very different from the production Cobra Jet. This car is a front to back, nut and bolts along with interior, a Ford Performance production Cobra Jet. This is number 8 I believe, Turk's maybe 15, but its with a asterisk in my opinion.

Its sad to say, but most Cobra Jets are built by their owners pretty much ground up. COPO's are mostly production cars with update cages.

Good morning gang - What a night !! Forget about sleep last evening as a storm rolled in around 10ish and was it a whopper.Even got a tornado warning .

But this AM its a whole different story as the Sun is super brite and there is a slight breeze that will help dry things off.

The first Q runs were to start off with Stock at 8:30 but there has to be plenty of water on the track so it may not happen on time .

Stock got their first Q run in - much faster than the gauges were showing with a strong tailwind to boot.Track had great teeth this AM .SuperStock is in the lanes.

High number of cars considering what the weather was showing with some still rolling in .Pits are a bit soggy from last nights storm as the below pics will show.

For those of you who are at the track and looking to get Q-sheets Racers For Christ will have them shortly- they are located just before the scales on the left side and have a orange cone to lead the way.Bring your dollar- its for a good cause.

I believe both Larry McLanhan and Gary Coe debuted their 2019 Cobra Jets at the Division 6 opener in Boise - beautiful cars!

Super Stock is also done with their first qualifying run. Top Dragster and Top Sportsman are up now, Alcohol follows and then back to the rotation starting with Stock. I did see a FS/AA COPO go 1.24 under, 8.15@168.

I will try to make a run early for Stock so I can shoot the Stockers. There has to be over a 100 Stockers, so I should be able to get back. I wanted to miss the 2nd qualifier, so I could shoot Stock, but I had some issues with my tune and did not make a full pass.

It certainly is. I think it sounds even better than it leaves.

Hope all have a fun and safe weekend at the grove. My back forced me to pull the plug yesterday. Beagles are pissed at me.

This racer was classified wrong and was DQ'D and sent home .All the FS/AA guys can rest easy again …...and sleep well tonight.
