"Live From" Numidia Dragway LODRS

Hello all, we are at Numidia Dragway this week. For some that have not been here, its located east central Pennsylvania. Its over a 1000 feet above sea level, so its not the fastest track, but its very scenic and has a great view of the top end for spectating.

This is our 2nd year after many years of not having a division race here. Its a great facility run by the DiMino family. Talk to any of the locals and they will tell you its a great place to race.

Its only Wednesday, but there are about 70 rigs here. There will be a test and tune tomorrow, and the weather looks great for this race. Mid 70's during the day with cool nights in the upper 50's. A few photos of the early arrivals along with a shot of the top end.

According to this it's 951' https://airdensityonline.com/track-r...midia_Dragway/ but I'm wondering if anyone has an accurate measurement showing higher.

Paul,
I can say that the times I’ve been up there for a few .90 races that on a hot day the AA is above 4,000 feet and wind is almost non existent unless a storm comes through and when the mountains on the top end disappear, you got about 10 minutes to get your stuff packed up. In all honesty, one of my favorite tracks. It’s just has a calming effect on you being in the mountains and it’s such and awesome view at the top end to watch cars go down the track. See you all later today!

Yup! From what I'm hearing, Pappy might just put in a surprise appearance on Saturday.

Hey guys, just a heads up on the test and tune today, it starts at noon and ends a 7pm. A few more shots of the cars in the pit. Hey check out the division 7 car, Mike Graham in his 2000 Mustang Super Stock, now that's one heck of a tow for a division race.

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like a wonderful place to race. I hope Mike and B.J. are having the time of their lives on this journey so far from home.

Paul asked about the starting line elevation at Numidia, just looked it up on topographical maps, about 980 ft. above sea level, for 11 years Dave McMeans and I announced the LODRS events and they were always held on the last weekend of July, it could get plenty hot there for sure and storms could brew up real quick also. Considering the altitude and heat cars still ran pretty good numbers. Yes it is a beautiful track, facility and surrounding countryside. I looked at the ridge tops for their elevation, top end of the track ridge tops and behind the starting line past the village of Numidia both top out at about 1700 ft. or so. Those racing or for the race fans, have a great and safe event.

The view and scenery there is really great.

Definitely gets hot there and seeing over 4000' DA is likely in July and yes the storms that roll in can be pretty strong and happen fast.

I was there bracket racing July 4th weekend 2013......Hot and muggy Saturday and Sunday and a real strong storm rolled in late that afternoon....race had to be cancelled.....

That line of storms hit my home area 125 miles East, before I got there and knocked out power overnight !!

I was at the last 2 Division races in the early 2000's and also last year...
I can recall the last one I'd guess 2004 and that was HOT !!

Not gonna make it out there this weekend...….

That's Mike and BJ Graham's car, and Mike standing by it. Leroy Duran normally driving it lately, but I don't know about here.

Dave, Mike and Bj sold the car Iast year to a guy in New York. The car was sent back to Mike so he could do a new motor for it. I did race the car at the division race at Fontana a couple weeks ago. As far as what happen today I was not involved nor was Mike and thankful no one was hurt either.

Good morning all, start time should be at 9am. I few more shots from yesterday. The first 3 shots are of Tom Russell in Gary Russell's '67 A/S Camaro. I was talking to Tom for a bit, this car has so much history, and it has the original paint. A purple color I never saw before and it has the original top also. Gary bought it in 68 I believe, such a cool car.

About the accident in the staging lanes, from talking to a few people, the driver thought it was in neutral when he hit the throttle. It not only hit James Daniels's car it drove Daniel's car into the car in front of him. Daniel's car also had significant damage. I don't know the name of the driver, I'm sure someone will let us know. No one was hurt, and it shows you how dangerous the pits and staging lanes can be at times.

Morning Ken. Glad no one was hurt, cause it sure could have been worse. Question: Will D1 TV be up and running today? Many thanks to you and all those that provide race coverage to us folks stuck behind a desk. Have a good , safe race are my wishes to all.
Walt

It is a shame to see race cars torn up, but very glad that no one was injured in the incident.

Stock is done with Q2, there should be clean ups later. Super Stock is in the lanes for their Q2. Temps are in the low 80's and the DA is around 3300. A little different on the photos, some top end shots along with the return road from Super Stock Q1.

A few more shots from yesterdays action. Its another beautiful day here at Numidia Dragway, temps will be in the upper 70's. Conditions should be about the same, maybe a little quicker.

Convertible race cars, sure makes interior maintenance easy.
