"Live" from Bristol Thundervalley Nationals

Good morning, it's that time again one of my favorite tracks with the beautiful backdrop of the mountains Bristol is always a treat. I got to admit though normally the weather is not my favorite, the last few years it's been hot and hotter but this year promises to be more seasonal temperatures as a matter of fact is going to be down right chilly at night with lows in the 40's.
We drove up yesterday evening so we are just down the road from Bristol now. We are about to head over to the track shortly. It's Fathers Day weekend and the girls are with me and they are excited! They said they were coming with me this weekend to help get this racing season back on track with a trophy. We will have more later....

We are here and in the stacking line and it appears to be moving a little slow. It has been raining here so I imagine that is hindering the process a little.

Thanks Kenny, well once it cleared out everything went pretty smooth. We got parked and setup, then went to registration. After that we did a little visiting and now we're down at the creek enjoying an afternoon of fishing. Might even catch a little nap if time allows, life can't get much better can it?

Re: "Live" from Bristol Thundervalley Nationals

Not much to report today, everyone was getting their pit areas in order and some maintenance done here and there. Lots of bench racing, the one thing that is really noticeable here especially with the lack of pit space is there is alot of room left. Not sure if there are alot of cars coming in tonight or if the quota is just that low for this race. Another tidbit is the weather, a couple years ago it was so hot I swore I would never come back in June but it is very pleasant here this weekend, in fact the temps are supposed to be in the upper 40's tonight. The DA is around 3000' compared to over 5000 the last time I was here.
Stock is first out tomorrow morning with a 10 a.m. start time and we are also running class this weekend.

Re: "Live" from Bristol Thundervalley Nationals

Low quota. No top dragster, comp or Pro Stock at Bristol should open up some pit space. Good luck to all that are racing there this weekend.

Re: "Live" from Bristol Thundervalley Nationals

Good morning from Bristol, it is absolutely beautiful this morning. Not a cloud in the sky and 60 degrees. The DA is sitting at 2000' ofcourse there's no barometer so it won't be fast but it will be fast for Bristol. Those coming here to work on their average will have to work a little harder at it this year. We're out at 10 then class later.

Stock Q2 is in the books and we run for class shortly. In case you missed it this morning Jim Marshall took the pole with an impressive 1.12 under run on Q1. Pretty damn awesome run up here on the hill! The Super Nova is one bad ride!!

We have wrapped up class and Stock is now done for the day. We will be out first thing in the morning for round 1 of eliminations. I lost class so me and the girls are enjoying the trackside activities they have setup for kids it's pretty cool.

Someone must explain to me the reasoning behind running Class when there's only a 50 car quota (49 showed).

That question would be above my pay grade, it seems to be the way we are going forward with national events. At one time they blamed the quota partly on pit parking space but looking around this weekend I would have to call BS on that one. Bristol is probably the tightest parking of all the tracks we go to and there is plenty of parking left open this weekend. I think it more than likely comes down to how much of OUR money is needed to run the show.

Good morning, it's race day here in Bristol baby. Earlier start time this morning than yesterday and a little cooler as well. We start at 8 and I just got the text to the lanes for pairing. I'm hoping for a better day than what we've had for the first part of the season!

Well that was a short lived return to glory as I redlighted to Chip Johnson 2cd round. We will stick around for the next round and probably head home so we will check back at our next race. Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there, I know I have had a great time with my girls this weekend and that's what it's all about anyway!

Heads up 3rd round between Santangelo and Longhany had the crowd in the stands stirring as Santangelo stood it up on the bumper. Unfortunately for him delighted as Longhany broke traction right off the line.
