C4 low gears
 
Where can one purchase a 2.82 or lower transmission low gear for a C4?


Also who can build a killer 74 2bbl stocker engine?

You can get a 2.20/1.45/1.1 from Broader Performance, but it's like a ProMod trans.:eek:

Jim Paquet makes them from 2.20 low to 2.92 low gear sets. He does sell direct, but he also sells to other trans builders, complete drive shell, planetary set with torrington bearing. Drop in and go.
Been using his stuff since 1987, Stock and SuperStock foot brake and trans brake and have never broken one or had any issues.

RJ nice to hear from you. I remember when you had a go around with the NHRA Hitler on the Motorcycle who terrorized you at the scales, I believe that it was in Dallas with your 66.

Good luck getting anything out of them right now. They moved to Texas and haven’t restocked many parts yet. You don’t need a pro trans for a 2bbl car. Just saying

I have a 2.90 low gear in my trans from Mike Graham from Virginia Speed Race cars. The trans has been freshened a couple time and the gear set still looks good with over 400 runs on them. I actually contacted Mike recently before Ed Horensky took my trans apart to see if he had parts if I needed it, and he said what he didnt have he would make. When Ed took it apart, it still looked good. If you need contact info, pm me.

Glad he was able to help you. I run the c4 behind a mid 10 second Boss302 in a 71 Maverick, but I am in the middle of building an engine to run GT Super stock.

Duane I also have a mikes VA speed C4 with a low gear set in my tbird stocker and it needs to be freshened! does Ed Horensky do transmissions for anyone or just his friends? thanks ...fred

Ed does them for plenty of people. He is a great guy, and a good trans guy as well. He will build them for most people

While not a Large difference, having a ProTrans low-gear set in my C4 2bbl 351C does indeed make my stocker quicker. Just sayin.

I'm not saying a trick gear set wouldn't be cool. Just not sure you need an 8000$ pro trans for a 2bbl car. If you have it spend it. Good for the economy.
