96 Cars!

...at Earlville, first Q sheet
5 K each day , cash on the barrel head .
96 of your friends, No fuelers , no drag Harleys, no street tire expo, no $400 entry.. No getting up before dawn to be bumped till the end of the day, then cancelled.
Oh and sorry , no Wallys.
Maybe not YOUR thing, but how much you wanna bet, there will be more cars next year?

Re: 96 Cars!

We had a little rain show up while we were in line for Q2 so I believe we will just have one race this weekend. But we will continue on tomorrow and it sounds like we will have some more cars showing up.

That is very impressive. In the twenty years I have been doing S/SS races, the most cars I have ever had was 67.

The rain obviously hasn't helped, but these oildowns wasted several good hours of racing. At least Luigi Farndon wasn't responsible for any of them!

Carry on...

From DRC:

"Due to extended delays from an incident with the first pair of Pro Mods in the fourth and final qualifying session, the planned schedule of eliminations for the Sportsman cars has been rescheduled until tomorrow morning."

The "planned schedule of eliminations for the Sportsman cars" was also ruined by this brilliant incident that caused a 42-minute cleanup:

Quote:

Left Lane: Justin Schriefer No Time, Now #16; Best prior run: 4.005/317.94, Was #16
Right Lane: Phil Burkart No Time, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.047/305.08, Was #18

OK! This is the first time I have ever seen this...

Both cars do their burn outs and pull back to the starting line, where NHRA shuts them off for "stuff on the track"!

Justin Schriefer was charged with an oildown, #2 for the season. That will cost 10 points.

Phil Burkart was charged with an oildown, #2 for the season. That will cost 10 points.

6:14 p.m. Lots of clean up in both lanes.

Great race at Earlville, despite the rain on Saturday. 96 cars on Saturday and 103 on Sunday. Here's Saturday's qualifying sheet.

By the way, you might see some familiar names from the Class Racer forum on the sheet....like Bob Shaw at #1 with a -1.577 and Sean Marconette at #2 with a -1.266 under shot. :) And Jim Parsons, Randall Klein, Dan Weise, the Tostos, etc.
