Unfortunately not in this case, good friend is putting the finishing touches on the same combo. Sigh...

I think that combo got a 75 HP REDUCTION a couple of years ago...….

Congrats to Jim Hale. At 81 years young and still doing it !!! Great Run. You at 81 have more balls to show what you have in a performance class than most of us that play the AHFS game. BP

No, they did not. It was an OPEN, run as fast as you can. I was the 3 rd fastest H car that day. Both Rick Winchester and Matt Antrobious had me covered. I know you are confused, I still remember that kick out oil pan you were going to run on your Stocker ?? REGARDS.....

I agree with the performance, just the reasoning behind it.On his 2 prior runs his best pass was -1.10,on the 3rd pass he went -1.24.The -1.10 was not enough to back up the -1.24+ to even get the record.I don't know how NHRA is going to look at this,I believe it's a one of combo, and it went +1.20 under only once.Have to wait till Tuesday....gsa612

The pan your referring too wasn't a kick out pan. Mark never did mention it was a national open. How fast did you run that day?

It was a 5th rd. heads up against Matt Antrobius . It was very hectic and I was by myself with no help. I don’t recall looking at the flag but I vividly recall seeing the driver door on Matt’s Camaro as we raced down the track. I was determined to get around him and finally passed him at the scales.....There are a lot of good people involved in this sport but none better than the Antrobius family....

I'm not sure what Mr. Hale's reasoning is. But it appears he wanted the number one spot. After the second round of time trials Joe moved into that spot and pushed Mr. Hale back to number two. I don't think he likes that number so decided to push the pedal harder. Just my guess.

None of us like it when someone gives an instant hit to a combo we run but at 81 he gives us all something to look forward to. BP

Joe Costello just did an in the pits interview with Jim Hale. Cool guy. He wants 35k for the car or he won't sell it.

If you run 1.20 or better and do not get certified isn't very smart. The old crew at least knew how to do their jobs.....Not anymore today !

Terry, I think that you'll find that the new crew is being told not "to do their jobs".
I would love to see just how many hours the average Tech is allotted (or paid for) to do his job on a day-to-day basis.

I agree with Billy on this. The issue is not the tech people. To insult them is out of line.

Re: 1.20+ run Vegas divisional

I think the tech department is doing a fine job, at Indy they tore down about 10 cars and had found more than a few to have issues that disqualified them. They also were pulling carbs and throttle bodies of almost half the field. At Maple Grove they tore down the 1.20 under car and had him in the barn all day then they went through about 6 Comp Cars too checking various things.
ALL the classes require policing and there are fewer tech people so they do have their hands full but overall they are a busy bunch of guys.
Stop the glory days stuff.

The video of Jim in the pits is very cool. Looks like Jim is just a good ole' boy that can kick butt in NHRA competition.

I believe he threw down the gauntlet saying no K/SA car in the country can run with him.

Atta boy Jim. You make it seem easy. 81 - and still having fun.

When I worked the Gators many moons ago (My first National event for NHRA in 1972) I received $25 for the whole race and I paid for the plane ticket. Before my dispute with Mike Baker at IHRA I received $500 for the whole race Thur. AM thru Sunday evening and either gas money or plane fare and the rental car bill.. Baker wanted to allow head mods (Porting) on the Top Stock cars. Standing on your feet from 7: 30 AM to 12:00 AM or 1:00 AM wears you out And I had very little help with the Stocks and Super Stocks plus we had the pro stocks remove the heads on the old small block pro stocks to measure cubic inches not P&G checks and occasionally the mountain motor Pro Stocks to check for allowable bore spacing .
