Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
Yea, I know who cares but watching the PS qualifying I was struck by Erica’s comments about Greg Anderson working the ladder in an attempt to hopefully run her first round. Apparently she believes playing the ladder is very unprofessional. I’ve always been a Erica fan and know she’s a positive role model for young girls but it chafed me when Elite took the Mopar $ away from J&J and when they couldn’t win with them she bad mouthed Mopar repeatedly. The escalating battle with KB Racing is pretty intense and I get that but...
My question is do sportsman racers feel playing the ladder game is unprofessional in any way? I never have considered it to be but rather just another tool to be as competitive as possible. Other opinions? |
Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
It`s all part of the game in my opinion. I`d LOVE to see NHRA go back to the Pro Ladder for Stock and SS. Talk about manipulating the ladder!

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
I was not aware “working the ladder” was a bad thing. Some guys try to get, or avoid, a heads up, or try to go #1 to get a bye first round with an odd number of cars.

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
She wouldn't like me or alot of other guys in Stock very much. There are alot of guys and girls that manipulate to some degree where they are on the ladder.

Ta Da!!!!!!! I commend Greg Anderson to try this approach. Not a typical tactic on this level, but awesome job. Time to put up now. I love it!!!!

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
She has already proved she can out drive him and out run him. Just don't screw up.

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
I hope he takes her out !!

22 years her elder, he should have more.
Just looks bad doing it this way, Jason should be the 15th qualifier and fight his own battle. |
Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
Did they, KB, do anything outside the rules.......No. It's all part of the game, enjoy!

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
There is a lot more to this than just HYPE....there is no LOVE lost between the KB / ELITE camps....Love me some Bo Butner and Jason Line but today....I will be pulling for EE .....She is more than capable and truly holds her own in this MALE dominated sport. EE can flat out drive a race car and has proven time after time that she is way more than a marketable ASSet !!! .........

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
I can see the fuss when teams play the ladder to race their own team mates fir a duck run. I don't see drama in targeting a competitor. They are both tough on track, so it should be exciting. I think Erica can hold her own, but Races like this will come down to inches I am sure.
By the way, I don’t prescribe to the notion that you have to love or hate one team or the other. |
Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
She needs to get a grip on reality.

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
No-body seems to be concerned about Force qualifying opposite Hight first round?
Does Force go red, kill the tires or blow up? |
Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
Not a fan of it but he played it well. Hope she wears him out.

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
Elite would be doing the same thing if reversed. I'm SURE Richard and his brother did this in Comp. They all have seemed to inherit her pouty, unsportsman-like attitude (when they don't win). And playing the "gender card" is silly to me, I thought we were "equal". Not a great fan of current PS with the Mopars gone but, this is goood!!

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
Back in the day (60's - 70's) racers used to call each other out. This is just the 2019 version of the same. I think it's great.

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
Look at the big picture here. Greg and Erica are BOTH creating drama for a class waning in the fans and NHRA's eyes. Seems to be working as sounds like will be watching with most everyone else talking about it.
Greg is a very smart individual who not only devoted his life to the class I grew up loving, but he is also one of the last of the dying breed of Grumpy/ WJ/ Glidden style drivers. Greg took the Reher Morrison team style to a higher level and certainly deserves respect and admiration for his accomplishments. I myself personally would like to see him surpass WJ with overall wins. One of the last legends of Pro Stock. And Erica... shes certainly media savvy and can not only drive her ***** off, but handle pressure situations like a true champion. Personally most of my attention will be focused on Stock and SS semi's and finals. Would love to see Kyle double up and clinch the championship in SS, that is the real drama in my Sunday. Congrats to all racers that spent there hard earned $ entertaining all of us this season. Been a hell of a show right to the end. Much appreciated! |
Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
I wonder if we’ll see a burn down on the tree ??
Or will Greg light up both bulbs at once ?? Erica likes to stage last so we’ll see how it plays out. |

Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
Greg knows he can't out run her so he will most likely take a big shot at the tree and either be great or red.
|
Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
She got him. .016 6.570 to .017 6.575.
|
Re: Elite/KB Pro Stock war...Ladder game
Greg had her on the tree by .001. This race had to be worth the price of admission and good on Greg for taking her on for the team. And good for her as well, she came up large in an intense spot.

Jason’s car went quicker than she did so why would you say that Greg knew he could not out run her? She was only .005 quicker than him. |

I don't understand how that could happen. What DRC outputs comes directly from the timing system, from the same source and at the same time it goes to the display in the tower. It took years for Bob to agree to sell Fast News the digital connection to do that. For them to be reversed, the reporter would have had to manually edit that pair after the clocks fed the data. I can't think of a single reason why that would happen in this case. The days of having to read the screen and then type the data into the Fast News program that DRC processes have been over for a long time. I'm not saying that's not what you saw. But from working with the system I don't know how there could have been an error like that. On the topic at hand, I have no problem with trying to face a particular competitor as soon as possible on Sunday. I am truly impressed that Greg was able to pull it off, though to be honest I think it was a lot easier after she qualified so well. And we got a tremendous race, just like I hoped. |
