NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE

Dont normally watch live broadcast of NHRA as it is mostly all big Money show TF/FC AND PRO STOCK aka John Force Show, but today watching as it was too cold to do anything else, witnessed a SO CALLED Professional driver sucker punch another competitor on live TV and get away with it just because he is who he is, BS--he should had been fined points and time out for the next season but instead he gets presented the National Title, if that had been a Sportsman Racer , you would have been banned from competition for in definate time and lost your points for the race as well...Just goes to prove who the NHRA really cares about....The action of Torrance is unacceptable

K Stubbs 11-17-2019 08:19 PM

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE

I agree with you. Torrence only did that to him because he figured he could get away with it. Anyone else and little Torrence probably would not have been able to make the next rd.

Had to do a search to see. I totally agree. He should have been escorted off the property, fined and suspension.

And all because the kid took his time and then deep staged. What a load of BS!

Unbelievable!!!! any sportsman racer would’ve been disqualified from that race and probably all next season, money talks.
There was a threat that occurred to another racer at Atco and said racer was disqualified immediately and for the rest of the year! Come on Nhra no double standards

And did you notice he wasn't even man enough to apologize to Ferre on TV but said he was sorry to everyone else. What a chicken**** move by NHRA to allow him to get away with it. Piece of garbage.

Come on, NHRA. They take points away and fine drivers for that kind of stuff in NASCAR.

NHRA at minimum take away his points for this race, that would make Doug Kalitta Champion. No room for this crap in our sport,we are not the UFC!!...gsa612

So... Who thinks there may be a new Capco funded Top Fuel team next year. It is entirely possible that it will be cheaper to fund a TF team for 1,2,3,4 or 5 years than damages from lawsuit. After all damage to reputation, defaming, loss of future funding and loss of stature (not to include any physical damages or mental anguish), all caught on live TV! He should be calling Paul Cambria for advice!

I'll bet Mr. Ferre gets some new parts and/or budget help for next years racing endeavors.

Exactly right MJ. We know that Torrence expected everyone to lie down for him and got totally schooled. He is acting like an entitled brat.

Now this quickly becomes a test for the less than proactive NHRA executive staff.

The clock is ticking fast for them to show what they want NHRA Championships to be about.

me too--I despise top fool and ha ha and the joke pro stock has become-I had to actually dig around and find out who it was and once I saw the video and NHRAs response (they are using it for PROMOTION) I lost complete interest. He SHOULD be stripped of his title and sent home for a year-that was unforgiveable in my book

I hope every person that races him next season takes a minimum of 5 seconds to stage. He’s nothing but a PUNK !!

Guess when you have money rules don't apply to you and I guess being a cancer and heart attack survivor gives you special privileges to act like that !

Steve did go to Ferre's pit. Conversation made between them was televised and it appeared they both shock hands and appeared to leave on good terms. Just saying.

I'm a 2 time cancer survivor and it has nothing to do with this, he was and is out of line and NHRA should step up and penalize this moron and strip him of the title. He was out of line and non-professional bottom line done.

Reason I brought up the heart attack cancer thing is on my Facebook page read a letter that was posted from the Capco team nothing against you

Best I can tell... the "Kid" is 34 and Steve is 36. Might have made for a good dustup. No one got punched and more importantly, no one knows what was said after Steve shook hands and pointed his finger. Certainly this was a bad situation but lynching hasn't been legal (except maybe in Texas) for some time. I'm not condoning the action but surely this isn't the first time someone in NHRA has gotten physical with an opponent.

Mr. Ferre should have just called Officer Friendly, had him led away in cuffs. Simple....Kalitta, who is probably one of the more deserving and nicer guys of that group gets the Championship. Could you imagine what the NHRA would have done!! LOL

I'm not a lawyer but I'm pretty sure Cameron Ferre would need to pursue it not NHRA.

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE

A really stupid move by Torrance. The kid can drive a fuel car, and up until now, has seemed to manage the fame and fan adulation pretty well. This dumbass decision will likely follow him for the rest of his driving career. If he wanted to demonstrate true character, he should voluntarily vacate the title and give up the points for the race.

Re: NHRA rules for everyone but STEVE TORRANCE

I think Torrence felt that he took too long to stage which does have a negative effect on those cars. I don't blame Ferre either BUT i do think the timing was bad. No offense but Torrence did have a championship on the line. I would think maybe they would have worked out how they both would stage back in the lanes. HOWEVER i do still think Torrence came out of it looking like a complete idiot. They did end up hugging it out. Side note- That was a very emotional event for the CAPCO team as one of their guys son was killed in an accident earlier in the week. Lotsa emotions in that camp this past weekend. I agree Torrence should have been punished in some way. Dunno if Kalitta would have wanted to win it that way.

So not coming to Steve defense because it was totally wrong but, this isn’t the first time racers have gotten into each other’s faces and nothing was done about it. All the arm chair racers on FB calling that Steve’s championship should be taken away, etc. should there be some sort of fine or something yup, docking of points...never know. I mean we all know if one of us did it, we’d be suspended or fined...heck we crash our cars cause a motor blows and rather then a dam, that sucks we get a fine for “oiling the track” as you put your wadded up racecar into the trailer. So how about...

Millican vs Herbert at Maple Grove
Force vs. Pedregon at Indy
Laughlin vs Tanner Grays Crew at Houston
Whit Bazemore vs Everyone...lol

The thing is this has been happening for years and the racers from the 70’s & 80’s are sitting back laughing because they used to have flat out fist fights and rolling in the dirt altercations. Problem is nobody had FS1 or Facebook to complain about it.

I don’t think anyone could honestly say after a round loss or win against maybe someone you don’t like or plays games on the line that you haven’t showed your emotions and went to say something to that person

The big difference is he assaulted him. He should have been sent packing at that point.

another thing I got out of this was that Tony Pedregon comment "that he should have just gotten out of Steve's way" because he was running for a world title. Really? we all do that, right? He is the worst "play by play" man ever. Greg Anderson really takes the cake also, Erica just won and he couldn't wait to say something, good lord.

Agree on Pedregon of course but since I zip through the DVR pretty quick during the Pros, what did Anderson say? Keep in mind that EE had ripped him pretty much all weekend and Greg is a pretty intense guy.

Pedregon was just used to "getting out of the way" when he was driving for Force.......

Surprised when they mentioned he took a long time to stage, that nothing was said about the Official Starter being in control on the line. Curious what everyone thinks Buster would have done. If he was dawdling that much and fuel load is a safety concern why not shut him off and send Torrance on a single? The only part of the event we didn't fast forward through was that and the Force vs Hight match up.
