Live from Reynolds, GA!

We got here about 11 last night and we are #56 in line. The only thing I can tell you about who is here is that there is a red truck on the right side and a big white truck on the left. It started raining sometime during the night and hasn't stopped. It is 8 now and we are supposed to be moving in, but the way it looks now, we may be here til noon or til it quits raining. Heard on the radio that there is a tractor trailer turned over on 475, so they are diverting traffic. Hope nobody got caught in that traffic jam.

I will give you more updates after we get inside the gates.

Patsy,

I'm jealous. A bad day in the rain racing far surpasses any day in the office. Tell Larry good luck to this weekend.

Hey Bruce,
Wish you were here. We are cooking some ribs and I could go get some cabbage to go with it if you were here.

Well, they are moving us in and it is still pouring rain. Hopefully they are showing us where to park since we don't have a clue. Have seen lots of motorhomes pulling in without trailers. The pros??

More later.

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

There is lots of parking space here. Got pitted fine without getting stuck. Problem is now all the roads are muddy getting back out to the pavement. Unloaded the car, and have been out trying to find a path to go tech without getting too muddy. It is still sprinkling, but they are drying the track. Said they are going to try to get some racing in today. Saw Harold Culpepper and Merrill and Donna Schrimsher. Didn't see any of the pros yet, but I'm sure they're here. Did see Randy Wilkes getting teched. Country Dog and Puppy are here. Talked to Jeff Teuton and he wussed out on us. Didn't want to drive thru all that rain yesterday.

Midstate RV is throwing a BBQ and Karaoke tonight. It is being catered by Sonny's BBQ. I'm sure it will be good. Thanks in advance to Midstate. I think I am going down and look at some of the motorhomes they have for sale here.

Well more later.

The nice tech guys just came by the trailer and teched us in. It is still sprinkling rain, but looks like it might be clearing out a bit.

Too bad its raining. Looks like its going to be 1 qualifing shot on saturday and 1st round on saturday afternoon. I am sure glad I didnt waste the trip there. I hate the races where they run 1 st round on saturday.

Guys,

When that weather clears out and the humidity drops get ready for some BIG numbers.

Tim Bodrey the GM, will provide you with some serious traction.

You should be flying.

Good luck to all.

Hey Randy,
where are you? Saw all your co-horts: Painter and Woodro. Woodro has been to the dentist all afternoon, so he wasn't feeling too well.

BBQ was great. Thanks Midstate RV!

Just came back for a bathroom break and a refill.

Weather is looking great for the rest of the weekend. So if you aren't here already, come on down. You haven't missed anything yet. Talked with Edmond earlier. He needs to win to take over the lead. Still haven't seen Fletcher or Biondo, but I would bet they are here.

Only 1 thing bad about here. You would think we were in Hillbilly Hollywood (Nashville) with the choice of music. How about some good old rock and roll?

More later.

Well it is a beautiful day here in Reynolds. 54 degrees now, supposed to be 82 later. Super street has been called up and stock is next. They just announced they are trying to get in 2 time trials for everyone today and NO first rounds today. So I guess I better thaw out those ribs to cook tonight. I'm sure DRC will be posting qualifying so I will post more later.

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

Biondo HAS to be there, he needs this divisional to have a shot at the world.

Fletcher showed up over night @ the Rock for the IHRA finals, One shot qualifier in Stk & SS before 1st rd, later today. His one shot in stock pairs him up with Hillary Sloan for rd 1 and I'm standing here looking @ SS in the lanes right now (as we're cleaning up a S/R oil down).

Weather should be good for both events for the rest of the weekend. DRC will keep us all posted on what's happening as the weekend rolls on. Be interesting @ BOTH events.

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

60 stockers here for the 1st run. Biondo, Wilkes, someone that I did not understand the name, but they said he was from Washington. It wasn't Mark Faul's car, but I don't know who else would be here from Washington. Mattingly is here from Division 3 trying to knock off Greg Hill from the top. Al Provoast's old car is here driven by Dickenson. Kevin Haguuard from Div. 5 is here. No Emmons. That was a surprise. Austin Ford is a long way from home, too. I'm sure DRC will have everything up soon. Gotta cook breakfast now.

Patsy,
That driver from Washington is probably Brad Plourd. He was in Noble last week and dependent upon how he did was or wasn't going to Reynolds,,,,,, guess he did.

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

Bob, you are right, it is Brad Plourd. Qualifying sheet is up. Duzac #1 at -1.16 under. 4 are DQ, probably all fuel. Charlie Ford said their fuel was the same as they ran last week in Noble and it did not pass. They are running SC now and then we run again. So we will be done for the day and ready to drink and cook some ribs.
Air was 1200' on the first run. 68 degrees. It has warmed up quite a bit.
More later.

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

I see 1st round is up. We just ran the 2nd session. 62 cars went down that time. We picked up a little. Air was1600'. They should have final qualifying and the ladder up soon. But we are not running 1st round until tomorrow.

More later.

Patsy the Emmons Bros. wanted me to ask you a question...If your motor home was broke down (or Tv,computer ect.ect.) Would you be..."Fixing to Fix it" ????? LOL

Larry Hill 10-20-2007 08:48 PM

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

Sure I woud be "fixing to fix it"! You wouldn't be making fun of my Kentucky up-bringing, would you? LOL

Well we have been waiting around all day for them to put up a ladder and now it is up. They said only 62 cars went down, but they had 65 tech cards turned in. Just saw the ladder and 2 cars have been put on the bottom of the qualifying sheet that never went down the track. Larry just went up to find out what happened. With this being the last points race, a 62 car field is only 6 rounds with the winner only getting 95 and the runner up 84 points. With those 2 added at the end, it makes it a 7 round race with 105 and 94 points.

I thought you had to go down the track to get on the sheet. Those last 2 could get a grade point and 10 points for passing tech, but I thought you had to go down the track to get on the qualifying sheet. Anybody know for sure? I will let you know what Larry was told when he gets back.

By the way, I have met some really nice folks this weekend. Jimmy and Sandra Parker with Craig Couris's new corvette that will run AA/SA next year. Also saw Mr. Bigg this afternoon. Harold Culpepper and his grandson Wesley came over and ate ribs with us tonight. Talked to Cliff and Jana Riegle this afternoon.

Well more later.

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

Well, Larry just came back with the skinny! The reason Ingram and Cobb got put on the bottom of the sheet is because qualifying on Friday was rained out. In that case it is at the Division Directors discretion to put them at the bottom of the sheet.

BTW, does anyone know Ron Cobb from Dearborn, MI? We just looked him up in the National points and he is showing 40 points: 10 points each from 4 divisional races. And now he is going to get 30 more and has never been down the racetrack?????

More later.

A 64 car ladder is still 6 rounds. 65 to 128 would be 7 rounds.

The final qualifying lists for Stock and Super Stock didn't become official until the alky cars were running their second (final) qualifying round. That's why it took so long for them to show up on DRC. If I know there isn't going to be a clean-up round at an event, I'll wait until I get the official final list with an eliminations ladder.

I usually don't get involved in the rules and procedures that pertain to what is or is not in play concerning discretionary entry qualifications by the Div Director, but given my experience with rain-shortened divisional events, I don't see anything unusual with what Bill did in either Stock or Super Stock at this event.

...the only unusual thing at this event (for me at least) is, my data feed works right for every class except the .90 classes. I'll be doing those by hand from sheets and run logs for eliminations. A piece of cake considering I had 802 cars at the bracket finals in Vegas last weekend! :)

Larry Hill 10-21-2007 08:19 AM

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

You are right, it is still a 6 round race with 64. The lady in the trailer had told me they had 65 tech cards. I wonder what happened that the 65th one did not get on the ladder?

A few more notes from yesterday. There is a little shop at the entrance to the track called "The Strawberry Patch". You talk about great ice cream. Strawberry and peach of course, since we are in Georgia. Then you go out and sit in the rocking chairs on the front porch and look over the strawberry field. And the track is surrounded by peach trees. You can drive your golf cart or scooter there and it is wonderful ice cream. People were lined up to get ice cream like they were at the credential trailer at a national event!

And then there was Charlie Ford. He came over to use the computer to update his Fantasy Football. Hey Charlie, I still have your password. Now who do I want to pick for next week?? LOL

Harold Culpepper came over and had dinner with us last night. This was before we knew we had to run him 1st round this morning. He and Larry were talking about that they are good friends except for about 11 seconds while going down the track. Then we get the ladder and see that we run 1st thing. But that is the great thing about this sport. They will still be friends at the finish line and cheer on the winner the next round.

Well it is COLD out there this morning. Probably 40 something. Haven't run the air yet.

Super street runs 1st at 9, then stock.
More later.

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

Well another 1st round loss, but at least he didn't hit the wall. Had a .015 light, then the car hooked and left, got in something, headed for the tree, then the wall. so he had to get out of it. Oh well, he's safe anyway. There's next year.

1st round results that matter to points:
Edmond lost in a double breakout.
Cooter and Country Dog are still in.
Haaguard is in
Mattingly is in
Biondo is in
Plourd is in
Austin Ford got beat.
Grubbs is in.

Gotta pack up now.

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

65 tech cards, one car missing.
Jimmy and Sandra Parker with Craig Couris's new corvette that will run AA/SA next year. This car was not on the list.

Larry Hill 10-21-2007 12:08 PM

Re: Live from Reynolds, GA!

Parker's car was there to get certified only. It did not tech in.

Ingram's car was there, but we never saw Charlie. He was a no-show 1st round.

Also Cobb was a no show. Did not find anybody who knew him or had seen him.
