Re: th 350 ultra bell
With what combination? Makes a difference...

Re: th 350 ultra bell
If your car has a tendency to break bellhousings, yes. I would recommend taking the trans case to a competent machinist so it can be cut and the bell housing be registered so that it can be installed properly.

Re: th 350 ultra bell
I wouldn't pull my trans out just to put one on , but if it's already out,its a no brainer,,considering the cost.
|
Re: th 350 ultra bell
There is absolutely NO need to install a ultra bell on your tranny...UNLESS you are cracking the case. After you have cracked ONE case,...it’s a lifesaver....of course my ole buddy Captain Jack cracked 2 cases before he bought the bell.....

Re: th 350 ultra bell
thankyou !!!

Re: th 350 ultra bell
Its the best way to go if you are in a class that requires a guard on the flywheel/ Bell housing. I have done several on Powerglides and they work real well.

Re: th 350 ultra bell
If you use a Bell that is easily removed and sent back for recert and a good quality Trans blanket, you'll save much $$ and frustration.....Worked for me!!

Re: th 350 ultra bell
They are nice and strong but they are also thicker and bigger. That might be a factor in a car with a stock floorpan transmission tunnel. I have a 3rd gen F body and the drivers side is very tight to the bell.

Re: th 350 ultra bell
the trans must come apart to install?

Re: th 350 ultra bell
Unless the Bell is specific to a aftermarket Case, (Reid, etc.) they will bolt on with your existing pump bolts. The tricky part is the Sanitary cutting of your existing stock Bell

Re: th 350 ultra bell
so no trans shield required if ultra/bell used ?...didn't realize that...
|
Re: th 350 ultra bell
I think if required, you still need a blanket around main case.
|
Re: th 350 ultra bell
The ultrabell only replaces the flexplate shield, not the trans shield/blanket.
|
Re: th 350 ultra bell
A good quality trans case blanket is less expensive than taking apart the trans, shipping, cert expense and shipping it back, putting back together, (if someone else needs to do this). Just saying...…...

Re: th 350 ultra bell
I have a TH350 Ultrabell on the shelf from an old combination. BOP ears have been cut off for firewall clearance so it only fits SBC now.
Kept cracking 350 cases in the bell housing until I went this route. $250 dragracer77@hotmail.com Chad |

and don't forget those dangerous glass windows because we would all be safer with Lexan.. Why don't we just leave Stock alone for a while rather than trying to " Fix it" |
